Sayonara Kasib Powell

The HeaAct_kasib_powellt had to make a roster move prior to Wednesday's home game against the Hornets so the roster would be at 16 players. The odd man out: forward Kasib Powell (pictured left). In six games, Powell started three and averaged 6.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in 25.7 minutes.

Coach Pat Riley said there is a player on a 10-day contract on another team the Heat would like to sign if he becomes available. If you had the chance to sign a player short term who would you like to see in a Heat uniform?

Riley said he has been intrigued by forward Stephane Lasme, who began a second 10-day contract Monday, and might like to have him in the Summer League. The Heat has an option on undrafted rookie center Joel Anthony's contract. There could be a competition between Lasme and Anthony for a roster spot.  Who would you take?

Man, the Heat have really become uninteresting. I'll forget them until the draft.

Blake Ahearn ! Give him a shot - and he'll take it. The Heat could learn from his work ethic.

I agree Ahearn would provide a good work ethic example for all the players...as he succeeds the others will want to follow his lead. It would be great to see professionals being able to sink free throws the way Ahearn does.

dleaguers who intrigue?

nick fazekas, 22, 6-11 -- before the clips signed him for the rest of the season. riley said the heat were monitoring a 10-dayer. maybe it was fazekas.

chris alexander, 27, 7-1; good hops, good athleticism, good length, good on offensive glass, good boards per 48, good block rate per pf; good ft% conversion for big; bad attitude in college (offcampus brawl resulting in suspension).

brandon wallace, 22, 6-9; stringbean hopper who blocks/boards/runs well in space. showed promise last summer for bos and carried it through the dleague. rapped for frailness, inability to bang based on build.
