Draft talk #2

Moving on, might as well hit a point guard, because everyone's going to assume the Heat desperately needs another one.
Rather than harp on Acie Law IV, who is expected to go higher than the No. 20 pick (although it would be interesting to see if his Roman numeral would get on his jersey), I chose another nice prospect.

Javaris Crittenton: 19-year-old point guard, 6-5, 190, one year at Georgia Tech.

Strengths: His best talent is probably taking guys off the dribble, after which he can either finish with his big frame or dish off. And it has been pretty clear this year that the Heat needs another player who can create off the dribble...  Even though he switched from shooting guard to point guard, has put up big assist numbers, including a 6.2 assist average over his last 11 games at GTech... supposedly has that competitive fire and desire to get better that coaches love, without the overconfidence that coaches can do without... His middle name is Cortez, which is pretty cool... Won a state title with teammate Dwight Howard at Atlanta's Southwest Christian School. The year after Howard left for the NBA, Crittenton got to the state final again and put up 28.4 points, 7.5 assists, 8.2 rebounds and 3.6 steals per game... Not a great shooter, but capable and can get better... Has the body to be a good defender along with the quick feet... Loves to dunk on people and would be just the kind of additional versatile guard the Heat could use against a team like the Bulls.

Weaknesses: Not a great assist-to-turnover as a freshman (1.5 to 1), which proves he needs to learn the position a bit more... Needs to become a better shooter. Take his college stats and project that to the NBA, and the best guess is he'd be a 43 percent shooter and 33 percent three-point shooter as a rookie... Can be troubled by the Lindsey Hunters of the world (small, quick defenders who pressure), but in the overall projects to be a true point guard and not the dreaded "tweener."

Would I draft him if I was the Heat? Definitely, but I wouldn't pencil him in as the backup point guard right away. So if the Heat wants an impact player right off the bat with this pick, he may not be the guy.

He sounds like a player who would be great for a team like us...but in 2-3 yrs
I don't think we are in a rebuilding process, considering Shaq might only have a couple "good but no so dominant" yrs left in him
I'm pretty sure Riley will look for somebody who will come in training camp and be ready for the NBA...i don't see us picking somebody in the first round like when we picked Dorell (a pick for the future)
Could be just me, but I'll stick to A.C. Law til i find somebody as good

I've seen lots of him in college (being a Georgia Tech alum) and I think he needs at least another year of college. He is not a very good outside shooter and he is prone to having lots of turn overs when he's off his game. He is an excelent ball handeler, but in his freshman year...he played like a freshman.

Of course I am biased in hoping he returns to college.

Rodney Stuckey is our guy people. look him up

First I'm going to comment about McRoberts. He's no David Lee. David Lee has toughness in his game and McRoberts is SOFT. Also McRoberts is "uber" athletic for a white player, but if you take the skin color away he's athletic for his size. His athleticism definitely isn't his problem though. His passiveness and softness that are his problems. David Lee would never get mistaken for passive or soft. I can't see McRoberts excelling in the league unless he toughens up physically (get stronger) and just toughens up the way he plays.

As far as Crittendon goes, yeah he's good but not ready. If Riley wants immediate help he'll go in another direction, but the long term pay off could be great with Crittendon.

da point guard dat they need and dat would be available by da time they draft would b Ohio State's Mike Conley Jr. He is a great point guard that can make all his teammates better,(jst ask da great Greg Oden dat wants 2 b drafted by da same team as Mike) is very mature for his age, has a decent shot but needs more work, and he can b a good backup for now and then can take the reins in a yr or 2 tops.....

mike conley has no chance of sliding pasta the top 10, let alone 20, the heat need to trade for artest of lewis and let go all the old bastards on the team

I like the Artest idea simply 4 the Bulls, and mayb get the most talented point guard available in the draft, and plz some how trade Kapono, Walker, even haslem, and mayb Dorell in a nice package deal.Keep Posey
