An inebriated motorist assured Florida police that he was not drinking while driving, but only swigging from a bottle of Jim Beam bourbon when his vehicle paused at stop signs and traffic signals.

Well, in that case, sir, you are free to go.

Did the deputy tell him that technically they weren't arresting him, only incarcerating him until he sobered up and posted bail?

If he'd been swigging Bud Light, this defense would have worked.

@wanderer2575-If he had been swigging Bud Light he could also have gotten off with an insanity plea.

At least he was belted.

Can driverless cars come soon enough ?

I don't drink and drive because it is dangerous - I could spill my drink.

Ladies and Gentlemen, put your hands together for Otis from the Andy Griffith Show!

I remember someone joking to carry an unopened bottle of liquor with you when drunk driving. If you get pulled over, open it in front of police officer and take a big swig.

We're gonna need a new law.
