The Gourds Must Be Crazy

Size matters. Or does it?

Largest squash record this week goes to the New York Times.

Mandatory fruit steroid testing now! Where's the outrage?

I just watched an episode of "Midsumer Murders" in which one of the characters was a prize vegetable grower. It showed some of the extremes that are used to produce a winning entry. Like injecting with chemicals to enhance the size and color & polishing with furniture wax. They're just for looking not for eating.

I don't mean to brag, but I grew 10 Hubbard squashes on 4 vines. 10-15 pds apiece. I did hand to hand with squash bugs. I set no records, but became a man in the process.

Methinks he is "weigh off" for darn sure.

Some people are definitely out of their gourds.

He fell down and busted his gourd.

If you have a few minutes, I'd like to tell you about The Great Gourd.

My gourd you're gorgeous.

Exits, stage left.
