A box full of live venomous snakes, tarantulas and Asian forest scorpions has been caught by the Australian Border Force (ABF) in Melbourne after they X-rayed a parcel marked "two pair shoes".

Never try to smuggle shoes into Australia.

Well, I could have gone a long while never having heard of "Asian forest scorpions."

Now we know why they called those Aussie shoes "Uggs".

Maybe those were the raw materials.

Maybe the label was in rhyming slang

Smuggling venomous snakes and insects INTO Australia would be akin to smuggling ice into Iceland.

Did they find the shoes ?

The ABF only decided to x-ray after the agents argued about whether "two pair shoes" is really two or four shoes.

geezer alert

Shoes? Did someone mention shoes?

And all these deadly critters survived together in a box? I suppose the shoes would kill each other.

Cheesewiz, it is written that Asian Forest Scorpions are good for the beginner (scorpion hobbyist?) that wants to try something more aggressive * than an Emperor Scorpion (Pandinus imperator).

* All scorpions have a certain amount of venom. Although most people are not affected by this species, some people may be allergic to the venom, or just more sensitive, making it a dangerous situation. This is one of the reasons that people should not handle this scorpion. (Like we needed a reason?)

"I don't like spiders and snakes...la...la..."

And here I though Scorpion was an indoctrinating meme of a TV show....

Consider it a welcome wagon gift in Australia.

Snakes don't wear shoes, and you need more than two pair for scorpions and tarantulas. Where are the missing shoes?
