Women pack 36 items and EIGHT pairs of shoes for a week away

(Thanks to nursecindy, who says "This is so untrue. I pack at least 10 pairs of shoes when I go away for a week.")

The reason we ladies pack this way is because you just never know when you'll be invited to something like a wedding,Bar Mitzvah, dinner with the queen, etc. I also tell my fella to make sure he packs enough underwear because he sure isn't borrowing mine anymore.

How many shoes does a woman really need for a week? Seriously?

When we used to travel to Europe I abdicated all my shoe space to my wife as one pair of sneakers - OK, maybe one pair of shoes for more "formal" occasions - was generally enough. And this was for as long as 4-6 weeks.

But for a week? I don't get it. But then, I freely admit I don't have the "shoe shopping" gene.

It's easier for guys because you don't have to pack any extra underwear for a one-week trip.

My male survival instict kicks in....no comment.

Why not just buy 8 pair of shoes on the trip ?

On a recent trip to Hawaii Mrs. Layzee were checking in at the aitport. Because I have elite ststus with the airline I can check two bags at no charge. So, I checked both hers and mine under my name. The agent looked at the Mrs. with her small carry-on over her shoulder.

He sort of smiled and said to her, "Going to Hawaii for a week and all you have is a carry-on?"

"Yep, " she said.

"Lady, I've been married for 15 years. There's no way in hell I'm going to believe that."

We all had a good chuckle.

Tell her it's a backpacking trip. Nonessentials get tossed as soon as she tries on the loaded pack. Then dump the packs in a suitcase and you're both set for a month. Until she goes shopping.
