Just wait until the dog tries to figure out where that smell is coming from, because Petey is pretty sure he's innocent.

Petey: WHOA - can he play?

Trust us Petey when we say there's more than enough love to go around.

That dog will guard and protect the baby. That's what my dog did when my son was born. Stayed right with him when I had him on the floor on a blanket. Cute picture of the baby and dog

That's a sweet little son of a bitch. And a cute baby.

That's a look of a dog that's thinking "He's not going to share my food is he? Oh, and by the way, do you have any food?"

Start that college fund now!

"Mommy, Daddy, can we keep him?"

You love your dog with all your heart
He brightens up your lives
But a deeper love you will impart
As your firstborn child arrives

Petey may have reigned supreme
The house was his domain
But now he's met his parent's dream
A new 'play thing' to train ?

'He squeals! He smells! He cries at night!
Mom & Daddy fret
But still they love & hold him tight
My God! He's Always wet!!'

'oh, Great! my grandpa Dave is here!
My favorite guy of all!
Quick, daddy, go get him a beer -
I'll go grab my ball!'

But Grandpa Dave is holding Him!!
The babe he came to see
My future here is looking grim -
Did they all forget about me ??

'I wag my tail - I made him smile!
We'll be pals, we boys!
I guess I'll let him stay awhile,
but just don't touch my toys' . . .

'a gentle pat upon my head
as baby's finally gone to bed
They love this boy, and I can see
They love him JUST as much as ME'!

- and, if TYPEPAD will ALLOW ME : ^ Ode to the young barrys & petey

Petey's probably thinking of how he'll bite anyone that comes near his baby. Dylan is beautiful.

Great, thanks for making me feel old. :P

And congrats, too... I suppose!

Great job ligirl!

Great job ligirl!

or great job ligirl if you're so inclined.

*shoots Typepad in the thigh*

I did that already, cindy.

Very cute picture. Petey does look a little confused but I'm guessing not for the first time.

Petey is thinking if this new human can go on the couch than I can go on the couch.

Fantastic, ligirl!

I almost feel bad for Petey. That look isn't confusion; it's fear that he's going to be kicked out and abandoned. Happily, he will learn soon enough that's not happening.

ligirl, you rock.

Bad news, Petey. You have been demoted!

As Pack leader, I introduced my grandson to our two dogs by putting him on the floor and letting them smell him. There was a lick or two, also. And some tail wagging.
The dogs seemed happy, too.
I assured both dogs that they remained members of the Pack and that it just got a little bigger.
Joe especially loved Lincoln. But Joe was a dog that loved everything and everybody.
Except those Tree Demons.
