He must of been one of the 70's flower child

Abusing the chain of command never ends well.

Reminds me of the time in a meeting on a new regulation when I asked the speaker who wrote the regulation?
"The Cabinet." he replied.
"The Cabinet", I said, "is a big pile of bricks. It didn't write squat."
"Why do you want to know?" he asked.
"Because it's so much easier to cuss someone when you know his name,"

The DC Metro has gotten quite dingy. "You can't have some rank amateur volunteer doing what our overpaid maintenance men can do...if we had thought of it."

... and there there is Washington Post reader comment stupid.

(One only needs to read the umpteen hundred comments at any major news outlet website to realize how funny and sharp the Blog's regulars are.)

Muphry's Law strikes again! Arrrggghhh!

Norman - couldn't agree more. I just don't look at news-source comments anymore, because they make me weep for my species. Taken on an average, we seem to be dumber than Moose.

And if you want to be really depressed, consider this. The run of the mill commenter on a local news site is at least smart enough to work a browser and a keyboard, maybe even a mouse. Think of the masses who never get as far as that. Sob.

this story was on a couple news channels last night. the metro should be embarrassed.

I've hated METRO ever since they turned my 20 minute bus commute into a combination bus and "rapid transit" ride that took three times longer (and the busses didn't break down, tempt sick people to jump in front of them, etc.)

I object to the blatantly species-ist comment above.
