HE'S 94

Famous for his love of smoking, popular German ex-Chancellor Helmut Schmidt apparently has 38,000 menthol cigarettes stashed in his house.

I'm sure he could sell them for a mint!

Smoke 'em if you've got em!

you know, i quit smoking 4 yrs ago after the coronary. that was good advice from the cardiologist. however, if i make it to 90 ... why not start smoking again? who would care!!

I just finished reading a big book on the start of World War One ("July 1914", by a guy named Sean McMeekin), and one take-away from it is that if the then-Chancellor of Germany, Bethmann-Hollweg, had smoked himself into the grave in, say, 1913, the world might have been a better place. We can cut Herr Schmidt a little slack for not having, that I recall, bumbled his way into a world war.

On the other hand, he's still around, so there's still time.
