WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO THE US MILITARY, A 1992 TOYOTA CAMRY IS ALSO FASTER THAN USAIN BOLT

US military develops 'robotic cheetah' faster than Usain Bolt

(Thanks to Jeff Meyerson, who says he saw Robotic Cheetah open for Mind-Controlled Cockroach.)

Hmm...I was just reading a BBC News item that said that a sprinting (non-robotic) cheetah's stride runs to 7 meters, which seems to work out to 23 feet per stride, near enough. Holy crap. Doubt Usain Bolt can match that.

Did the US military have a bet with Usain Bolt that they could develop a robotic cheetah faster than he could or is the actual robotic cheetah able to out run Mr. Bolt?

NC, that's a very good question. Although, having direct extensive personal experience with the U.S. Military, I'm not sure I'd trust them to develop anything whatsoever faster than Mr. Bolt can.

Lay out a buffet table a half mile down the road and see if it can get there faster than Michael Moore.

Not. Going. To Africa!

Bolt's top speed is about 28 mph, so I can beat him on my bicycle. Down a steep hill. With a tailwind. Off a cliff, it would pretty much be a tie at what, 9.8 meters per second? I find that strangely uplifting.

If these so-called scientists start working on a "Usain Squirrelbot", we are so doomed.

"With faster than human speed, this is a step in the development of a high speed killer that could negotiate a battlefield quickly to hunt and kill."
Paging Sarah Connor. Emergency call for Sarah Connor.
