Did the pilot try the "If you don't quiet down I will turn this plane around and go back to the gate" semi-bluff?
Then again, my kids can remember every single time I stopped the car to discuss their behavior. The last time I remained absolutely silent when I parked the car and sat down on the hood. I let them nominate who would tell me that their disagreement about where to go to lunch after church had been resolved.
