In some parts of the country, greeting reporters and law enforcement investigators with water splashing is considered to be a great sign of respect.

In your part of the country, greeting police and reporters with beer is customary. Not so much when being pulled over in your car by the police.

If I was stuck in the house with a stupid husband and five small kids and a reporter was banging on my front door,even though I had asked him not to, I'd throw water on him too. Either that or I'd grab him around the neck and beg him to take me away.
