Since when is giving a baby a bottle taboo?

Ain't nothin' compared to 'Tooearlytoilettrainingstapo'.

A classic example of the "solution" being worse than the problem: everyone was on Nestle's case for bombarding third world moms with freebies designed to create a market for their product. So now bottle-feeding is the latest excuse for torturing new mothers with the information that WeverTF they're doing is wrong, wrong, WRONG!
I'm cool with the pendulum swinging; but does it have to go soooo freakin' far in each direction???
(P.S. That was a purely rhetorical question. The answer is obviously 'yes'. *Sigh)

Where do you sign uo to get "bullied by the breastapo"?
What?

"up" not whatever I wrote there

Seen both sides of this one. Spent several years in Paed. Nursing in a developing country, and there were some days when I saw so many babies die after being fed formula prepared with tainted water I was numb. On the other hand, over the course of my career I've encountered hundreds of thousands of happy, healthy normal kids who've been bottle fed and done just fine thank you very much. Also. does judi know Prince Philip flashed his family jewels the other day when he forgot how to sit in his kilt?

"Tolerance" is the key word for everything in New Zealand, unless it involves bottle feeding. They will kill you and your dog for that.
Jeff, I'm not sure where you sign uo to get "bullied by the breastapo", but I will try to find out.
If I am not back in three or four years... wait another three or four years.

I know it's supposed to be pronounced breast-AH-po, but if you put the accent on the first syllable, it WBAGNFA sugary breakfast cereal.
The commercials could have a whiny cartoon kid, demanding "I want my BreastApo!" Or a monkey, whichever.

Jeff Meyerson, I know a place in Phoenix where you can get that. You must buy only two drinks. Appropriate.

Jan... Absolutely, on both counts. Didn't mean to imply that the first round of objections wasn't correct: it was a marketing ploy that cost thousands of lives. It just seems like things are going waaay over to the other extreme now.
And I'm going now to check out your news alert about The Crown Jewels of England. Woo-hoo!

This is nothing new. When my wife breast-fed our first daughter thirtymphing years ago, she almost got involved with a group where some were still breastfeeding their school-age kids.
It was the issue of sugar that dissuaded her. Sugar was regarded as the moral equivalent of selling your kids to slavers.

" Fraulein, perhaps you have relatives now lactating in Germany...? "

When my son was born, my milk didn't come in. The Breastapo still wanted me to breast feed by putting formula in a bottle, then taping a tube to by nipple and having him get milk that way. Uh, no. I just gave him the bottle.
Now he's 11 and just fine, except he leaves his socks all over he house. Probably no connection. I hope.

Betsy. Philip's been having a lot of trouble with his plumbing of late, so was probably just trying to get some fresh air to his pipes.

Does the Breastapo or whatever carry measuring tapes?
Posted by: EyeGore | September 10, 2012 at 09:07 AM
We call them the Nipple Nazis.

...aggressive breastfeeding tactics...
When I read that in the first sentence, I thought they were talking about mothers who were using aggressive tactics during breastfeeding.
The truth isn't much better...nor is it as titilating.
