WE HAVE NO EARTHLY IDEA WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE
But we definitely would like to be a part of it.

Where's the guy holding all the beers while we watch this?

We're technologically more advanced. Our exploding cans have a second and third stage.

Jeff, just for the record. My prayers are with you and your mom.

And the fine local constabulary is where when all this is going on?
You can't tell me there isn't at least one soccer mom in that subdivision behind them who isn't freaking out.
Reminds me of the time my boss's wife, who had inadvertently purchased a house just outside the city limits, looked out the back window and saw two guys with shotguns chasing a wounded deer across her lawn.
The deputy who responded told her that "you city people" need to get adjusted to living in the "country." Of course, the city was approximately a block away, but ...

I'm sure intoxicants of dubious legality are involved.

Omniskeptic:
Kind of reminds me of when I purchased, and loved, a 176 acre "farm" in the Eastern Townships in Quebec. Now because of the "mountain" on my property, only about 40 acres was actually farmland. The 250 year old farmhouse, which I spent a lot of time modernizing without sacricing the charm of the building, was a personal triumph.
But because of the forested terrain, it was a mecca for wildlife, especially deer.
Now I happen to like deer. And in accordance with the law in Quebec, I posted my land, forbidding hunting.
A local member of the fish & game society, confronted me and demanded that I rescind the posting, saying that I was anti-hunting. I denied that, saying, I'm not against hunting, but just not on my land.
To emphasize my point, I showed him my Glock 9mm and .275 Savage, and invited him or his members to attempt to defy my posting.
Issue closed. And the deer are frolicking...

Afkat ... it would appear that y'all north of 49 also have them folks who have trubble comprehendin' the concept of private property ... we've got 'em here, and most other folks do as well, I'm sure ...
(I hunt the deer, but I'd also completely respect yer preference to not allow me to so do on yer land ... if I ever went to Quebec ... which I seriously doubt I ever will ... but I still respect yer wishes frum afar ... )

Didn't the Oregon transport department try something like this? On a beach. With a whale.
These guys are way cooler.

Wyo, haven't spoken to you in a long time! Jeff, apparently you're dealing with some personal grief, and let me also send out my condolences. Let me know what I can do for you, my brother and my friend...

Thanks, all. Much appreciated. My mother had a good, long life and will be missed.

I hate to be a pedant (no I don't -- I love it.) but the blowed-up good line is from Farm Film Report with Big Jim McBob and Billy Sol Hurok (Joe Flaherty and John Candy.) "May the Good Lord Take a Liking to You and Blow You Up Real Good."
Posted by: Omniskeptic | April 17, 2012 at 12:07 PM
We've gotta provide a bit of pedantry frum time to time here, Omni' ... otherwise, how would these folks receive the benefits of our excellent memories?
(And if it fails to enlighten or amuse 'em, it remains "fun" for us, eh?)
