deputies were responding to reports that people were drinking in several Amish buggies on a country road.
Hmm, I wonder if the police found the people they were looking for.

The buggies fled?
Or ... the horses fled, and pulled the buggies with them?
So ... what'll the police do if they can convict these folks of BUI? Cut off the horses' feet? (Mebbe the cops wanna get sum of that big fashionista money ...)

I thought one of the great advantages of using horses was that it stayed sober.
Unless ridden by Lee Marvin.
Geezer alert.

Young Amish get to have their 'wild times,' but the horses usually remain sober. Have a feeling the collision was the buggy sideswiping the cop car, which gave the others a chance to flee. Incidentally, I don't see the slow-moving vehicle triangle on the buggy in the file photo either -- scofflaws!
