It happens in the US as well, just a bit less openly. The problem is that one kid seen as the next incarnation of Pele does not make winning team unless they get the right training. At least this way, the kid gets balanced training/

That's nothing. The Tulsa Roughnecks of the old North American Soccer League used to sign the first boy born in Tulsa each year. Talk about home grown talent.
