Musta been gaffer tape. Not enough sticky stuff. Duct tape is God, and would therefore not have come loose.
You really can fix anything with duct tape. Really.

Weenies. I've trusted my life to duct tape many times, and as someone who is mostly intact I can attest to its 90% success rate.
