I WANT TO BE A PART OF IT, NEW YORK, NEW YORK
An earthquake, a hurricane, and now this.

OK, how many other people thought on first look that the pitchfork tines were part of the critter? I thought it was some kind of albino bat demon.

The New York Bar Association has demanded increased protection from pitchforks.

Giant rat could play for the Giants.

How huge.

Yeah, I thought the pitchfork was antlers or something.

"The residents have told me that they've seen it running around with other rats. She lived with them. She ran into the same hole they ran in."
The Tenant Association woman hung with the rats, running into the same hole as they did? Well, then I would say it's her fault for feeding them so much. Dr. Oz needs to do a show on rat obesity.

Yep, thought the fork was rat talons.

it is big but, not that big, there is force perspective here, look how far apart the tines of the manure fork look. Given a width of the fork is really about 9-12 inches, the rat's body is only about 8-10 inches.
A Gambian rat's body is nearly 18 long.
Really large rats reported in US cities are often misidentified possums.

Don't forget nutrias, roger, also known by their scientific name of Giant Mutant Muskrats.

Hey, everybody ! Let's make it a protected species !
Posted by: Clankie | August 26, 2011 at 02:51 PM
yes, a nutria could also be mistaken for a common rat. Nutrias look like little beavers without the fancy flat tails.

"She"??? They knew that?
Then obviously this isn't a reality producer; it's a promo for "Real RatWives of Marcy Houses"

"Lunch!"

I also mistook the tines for antlers. In fact I thought it was a hoax picture of a jackalope.
I got a very close look at a possum a while back - it was just prowling around on the ground a few feet away from me. That bare tail sure looks rat-like. Eeee-Yuck.

Ratzo Rizzo. Maybe Irene will flush them out. My dog has a bad habit of bringing opossums in thru the doggie door. They are really good at playing possum.

Rodents of Unusual Size? I don't think they exist.
