Mothra lives!

Florida has some strange wild life.

Judi - don't make it angry. Do you have any worthy offerings to lay at its' feet?

Watch out for the giant retractable stinger thingy.

BTW - This is why I live in the frozen North - nine months of -40 degrees (usually) kills things like that.

MY DEAR FELLOW BARRY BLOGGERS,

I want to thank EVERYBODY who responded to my plea to vote for the Nine Lives cat rescue & shelter on that fundraising website. We were successful! The site said they have never had so many votes cast for one animal rescue in their history! Yayayaya for us! Here are the details...
+ + + + + + +

Nine Lives Foundation chosen as "Romeo the Cat’s" November FURPOWER beneficiary!
Support the fund drive & spread the word...

If you don’t know 'Romeo the Cat', you should. This fundraising cat has raised more than $25K for animal shelters and rescues across the United States. This month, the Nine Lives Foundation of Redwood City, California (http://www.NineLivesFoundation.org), is the beneficiary of his efforts!

Romeo raises money through his blog at http://www.romeothecat.com, through Twitter (@romeothecat), and through his corporate sponsors: Wellness Pet Food, Feline Pine cat litter, FURminator deShedding Tools, Sea-Yu Enterprises, makers of Clean + Green pet products, Big Paw Designs, and Petwebdesigner.com.

Romeo is also offers “Rescue Mom” and “Rescue Dad” cat magnets ranging from $2.50 to $4.00 per item. For every one you buy, the proceeds go to Nine Lives this month. You can see the magnets at: http://www.romeothecat.com/products-page/

*Notices strange rumbling from beneath Tokyo Bay*

OMG!! It's....... it's........ oh, no .... Raymond Burr!!

So happy to hear that DavCat. I voted and I know most everyone here did the same. I'll look at the website.
mtb, you wouldn't be scared of a little moth would you?

I was hoping for an appearance by the tiny singing fairies.

DavCat, thanks for the good news! As for the monster bug in Florida, a couple (OK five) of Naperville Squirrels could take care of that in no time.

Most of the singing fairies won't be back in their districts until the Thanksgiving recess..

Finds self agreeing with Punkin heartily!

That damnable Macy's drop down at that keeps covering the screen is REALLY obnoxious! BOYCOTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sweeet!

Elmo, that's why I use Firefox with NoScript!

Woah, DavCat, somehow I missed all of it, and I love kitties, even my Bad Boy... sorry

And punkin, yah mee too.... BTW, which way is up on that thing?

Even better stir fried with a little ginger and garlic pepper oil.

And did everyone see my photos? Only 30 viewings! www.flickr.com/tashnicp

Wayzata Bookshop? Cuz it ain'ta pizza joint!

"Get the CO2, Dave!"

Elmo, Firefox + AdBlock Plus = no more ads on web pages. (I don't even have NoScript, just AdBlock Plus.)

Better keep an eye out for Rodan, Megalon and King Ghidorah.

It's not easy, being pumpkinny-mauveish,
Having to spend each day running from Judi's broom.
Listening to that woman screaming all the time.
Can't find a quiet place in the room.

And, finally, photo no. 3.

O.....M.....G!!!!!

nightmares!

some arthropods earn their keep.

You got the "he" part right. The antennae are a dead giveaway -- male moths have huge feathery antennae like that so they can smell the females' scent.

I believe what you've got there is a Polyphemus moth, but it's really hard to tell without seeing the upper surface of the wings. It looks too light to be a Cecropia moth, but that's another possibility.

Just a guess here, but I'm betting Chris is single. Hey Siouxie! Of course just kidding Chris. Good information.

My first impression of that photo: Slap a saddle on that moth, hee haw!

My second impression: the cats at the shelter would go bonkers chasing that monster around!

next thing you know it will be applying for a driver's license.............

This moth looks like it's camouflaged itself as a dead leaf. Very clever. But it would still get itself swatted off my wall and raked into a pile (moth rave?).

*snork* @ "wayzata Bookshop?"

Do you know if there is an adblock equivalent for internet explorer, ScottMGS, funniegrrl, Bueller, . . anyone? I hate those dropdowns too.

thanks for the update on the rescue site, davcat. i sent it on to my book list, which also participated ;)

Insomniac,
Interesting link although they've mixed their spiders. The one on the left is a golden-silk spider but the one on the right appears to be a member of the Argiope genus.

Holy Bejesus, what kind of hell hole do you guys live in to have that kind of critter flying around. Boa constrictors, monkeys, godawful snake and gators! Are you people being punished for something down there.
