YET ANOTHER REASON FLORIDA IS NOT LIKE WHERE YOU LIVE
Apparently we have a helpful "self-arrest" program

..which is why I carry my own handcuffs...

But that would only work if you had a large supply of criminals so moronic that they would turn themselves in to avoid paperwork. Oh, right. Florida.

I noticed this comment on the article.
"That self arrest program is not all it is cracked up to be..... They tend to misplace your paper work from one shift to another no matter how busy they are..... One hour max turned out to be nine hours..... Interesting place for sure!!!!"
At first I assumed deadpan humor. But then I thought this is South Florida, so now I am not sure.

And the self-trial is even speedier!

Some more crime news from the Tampa Bay area.
A Tampa woman was shot in the leg this afternoon while sitting on the toilet in a hotel bathroom. Police said the woman in the next stall accidentally let her handgun slip out of her waist holster, and the weapon discharged when it hit the ground.
Thank heaven, no innocent toilets were harmed.

And those of us outside the state say "thank god".

This program could, of course, speed up the aftermath of Judi & Siouxie's planned get-together this weekend...

May I second that "Thank God", Eve. I'm beginning to think that things are done a little differently in Florida.

*flaps in for a moment*
So, the hit-and-run goes to book-and-run? How appropriate.
Siouxie, are those velvet-covered handcuffs? Inquiring ducks...

Can anyone be too surprised that Florida jails have set up EXPRESS lanes? Now if they can do something about the revolving doors on our asylums.

ducky!!!!!!!!!!!! HI!

Howdy, cg! LTNS! Hope you and yours are well.
Here in Austin, we've broken records for heat every day in July save one. I think today it was 106.
I need a COLD drink.

.
Jordan Valdez was out of the police station in plenty of time to run over two more homeless people before dinner. "What can I say, I'm a girl in a hurry, and the Tampa police give such fast service! Guess I'll zip back through the police station tomorrow! They're having a two-for-one sale!"
And then there's funny news, too.

See, whereas what sticks out to me is that she "could face 30 years in prison" but will probably take a plea involving no jail time. That's a heck of a sentencing reduction.
