Is this the health care system Soetoro wants for us?

Nationalized healthcare at its finest.

Siouxie you're right. This is nationalized health care at it's finest. Free health care sounds great but people need to remember that you get what you pay for. The really big question here though is did he go back to the same doc for his prostate biopsy?

My first thought was to ALWAYS use a marker to label yourself before surgery but dang, that's pretty close to the same place... If we have to put "WRONG! Do NOT Cut Here!" on all the wrong body parts, we'll look like an episode of L.A. Ink...

Or...you can stay awake during all procedures to make sure ;-)
cindy - yes!

For all those knocking public health care, I must assume you never read the papers about all of the screw-ups that regularly happen in the private US system. Mistakes happen in any system that involves humans. Who pays them doesn't change that. And yes, docs in publicly funded systems are still laible for malpractice and still pay for malpractice insurance.

This is certainly the health care that I would propose for Congress.

The guy had a bagel in his forehead so the doctors figured it was the right thing to do.

maybe they could hook him up with the dude with 2 penises....

But I thought doctors always used the Betadyne™ before opening you up?

What day is this? Brea$ts or Butt$?

Does this constitute preventative medicine?

Don't get all huffy about this until you know something about the patient. It may have been a judgement call. (Doc 1:"I don't know who he is or what he's here for, but I say let's sterilize him before he leaves." Doc 2:"Well... I got nothing to do till about 11...sure.")
I just sayin'

Yeah, right. So what you're saying is that the US system never makes mistakes? That you're better off with a system run by insurance companies who will deny you treatment and let you die if it saves them a few grand? The US is the only place in the developed world that does not have a national system in place (the US system isn't a service, it's a for-profit business); Americans have been duped for years into believing theirs is the better system. Before you make sweeping statements trashing other countries' systems, take a long hard look at your own.
Sorry if I seem a bit snippy but I've seen from personal experience just how crappy the US system is (as evidenced by my wife's medical problems which are still problems after several years and a medical-bill-related bankruptcy - something that would not have happened in my native UK).

I think I shall plan to never require medical treatment in Sweden.

Pete, I'm sorry about your wife's health problems, I really am however, we are just trying to be humourous here. Don't take it personally. And yes we all know that U.S. doctors make mistakes too.
Posted by: nursecindy | July 02, 2009 at 03:01 PM
Before anyone condemns the Swedes, read this from Dave Presidential Q&A.

Pete: What cindy said. I am truly sorry about your wife's medical problems. My native Cuba's healthcare system is a total disaster so yes, I do have a basis for my comment but, the comment was posted in jest. We all have the right to have our opinions on the subject and contact our lawmakers accordingly. I am well aware that the U.S. healthcare systems is FAR from perfect. I won't turn this into a debate on health care reform. There are other forums for that.
Again, sorry and I wish the best for you and your wife.

Siouxie -
You're right, of course - this is supposed to be a humour site. However I'm very sensitive on the healthcare issue and these things often upset me; I think it's a very serious issue that needs fixing.
All that said, I'm sorry for blowing up. This really isn't the place for that. Thanks everyone for your understanding.

I just hope we don't adopt the British dental care system!
