FOR THOSE WHO WERE NOT FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO ATTEND THE MIAMI BOOK FAIR
(Thanks to coastraven, who advises clicking the red "F" on the right side of the page to play the video)
(Please note that we ourselves are unable to connect to the video server, but we don't know if it's broken, or if it's some sort of firewall issue, or what.)

Download your 'Fins iPhone application
When I clicked the second link, I got: "Sorry, the product was not found."
I guess C-Span knows something about Dave.

Well, I can connect, but that "Beta" player from CSPAN is clunky. However, judi, please note that you can buy the DVD for $29.95!

Meanwhile, it's cold, here in Florida, so I thought I would amuse you with this!
Posted by: CJrun | November 17, 2008 at 05:08 PM
Looks fine on Vista, CJ. ;p
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | November 17, 2008 at 05:15 PM
I see it fine here.
BTW, you have not lived till you see Frank McCourt talk about masturbation. Dave's face turned 18 shades of red.

Woohoo! I saw me.
Posted by: Siouxie | November 17, 2008 at 05:33 PM
Susy's in it at 22:30!

Dave, you are such a nervous speaker. For goodness sakes, put your hands in your pockets and stop touching your face. Also, don't fidget so much.

It ain't the XP, Annie, it's the wireless; just not fast enough for most video. Many players allow you to pause, so the stream can get a head start. A few (and this one) don't. Plus, it's chilly and I'm cranky when it's chilly.

Annie, I saw me at 11:20 something...
Judi's somewhere behind Roy Blount, Jr.(next to me) so look for her.
Posted by: Siouxie | November 17, 2008 at 05:40 PM
kidding, CJ....laughter may warm you up... ;p
Man, McCourt sounds a lot like my dad. I'm ssstartting to hhhave ffffllassshbackkksss...

Posted by: queensbee | November 17, 2008 at 05:47 PM
LOL oh I saw.
He had me and everyone else cracking up, he was so funny.
Posted by: Siouxie | November 17, 2008 at 05:49 PM
Seems broke to me, Judi.

"...I was in your writing class and now I'm a poet. And I'm starving. And F&@K YOU!"
*SNORK*
Classic!

He should copyright some of the one liners like:
"Education is like constipation. It's always there"
Posted by: Siouxie | November 17, 2008 at 06:07 PM
"When all is said and done, I won't be here"
*snork*
Posted by: Siouxie | November 17, 2008 at 06:14 PM
ok...the top of judi's head is around 8:50 or so.
Posted by: Siouxie | November 17, 2008 at 06:44 PM
Good one. I also loved the "poet" ("Moose Klein") telling him "Fu@k You!"
Posted by: Jeff Meyerson | November 17, 2008 at 07:55 PM
Also, I read "Angela's Ashes" when it came out, then listened to the audio version read by Mr. McCourt.
He's great.

What I would like to say is that ... *HONK! HONK-HONK!* ... Dang. The pigs are in the truck again. I gotta go.

I'm ashamed to say I've never read that but I'll add to my list of books to get. He sounds like the teacher I'd love to have had too. I loved having the opportunity to listen to him and talking to him. Very cool guy.

1). Glad to see brother coastraven is still out there a-bloggin'
2). Mr. McCourt as my teacher would have been immensely valuable for me and still loads of fun. An amazing educational concept.
3). 3 reports that it just can't be bothered with this blog.
4) 4 is getting dirty looks from 3, and chooses not to be represented at this time
5). I also got a kick from the C-Span introducer outside the Book Fair who, in her wrap-up line, had to sneak a quick but still noticeable look down at her notes to remind herself of who she was introducing.

Well, I had to leave it midway and come back to finish it today, but I'm glad I watched it to the end.
Funny, 'tis.

Oh judi, THANK YOU! I'll watch the whole thing when I get home. I was kicking myself for not seeing it. Siouxie, "Angela's Ashes" is a great book, even if you're NOT Irish. And his subsequent books are good, too. He's an awesome storyteller. Gawd, I love them Blarney-Stone-Kissin' blokes!
