THE HERALD HUNT
The World Famous Herald Hunt will take place tomorrow (Sunday) in downtown Miami, and you should definitely go. It's easy: All you need to do is gather together a team of unbalanced fun people, get a copy of Sunday's Miami Herald, and be in Bicentennial Park at noon. For more information on the Hunt, check out the official site, and also the excellent archives maintained by Andy the TropicHunt.com Guy™. I'll be there along with Tom Shroder, who is the co-designer of the Hunt and the person responsible for anything that goes wrong. When the Hunt is over we'll explain it and you can boo us, and then everybody can head over to the post-Hunt festivities at a place called Bongos. The winners of the Hunt will receive a fabulous trip to Amelia Island Plantation, courtesy of Visit Florida.

Have fun, y'all.

Anywho. We are still waiting for NotSoShyJan who finally had no choice but to drop "Wanda" off and continue the trip down to Miami without her. She will be here shortly and we'll head out to do something tonight and then rest up for the Hunt!!!
*Wanda is her Winnebago who's been trekking cross country and just could not make it to Mijammi. The old gal needed a rest or an RV margarita*

Hi from Suzy Q blogging from Siouxie's laptop. Confused yet? Yeah, so am I. Also, we are drinking. So there is that.
Looking forward to the Hunt tomorrow, hoping for no rain

Posted by: NotSoShyJan | October 25, 2008 at 11:54 PM
Ok..this is funny. We're all sitting on my couch with laptops (except for SuzyQ who apparently did not get the memo to bring hers).

I still think this is totally unfair to we West Coast dwellers. Think of what a California Hunt could offer everyone:
Clue #1: Count the foreclosed homes in this 4 block area, and divide by 20.
Clue #2. Attempt to order a jelly doughnut from Donuts 'R' Us. What flavor did the clerk actually give you?
Bonus points if you can identify his country of birth.
Clue #3: How many fires are burning near Malibu at any one time?
Clue #4: How many homeless people hit you up for change at Sunset and Highland?
Clue #5: How many songs, other than "Smoke on the Water", are ever played at the Guitar Center on Sunset by wanna-be head-bangers?
See? We have culture, too!

Um, sorry about that, chief.

Oh, hai!
I am back in my home, away from that nest of Laptop-Americans which, dare I say it?, discriminate against us remaining PC-Americans. To that I say...Hmph!
Just because they can all be in the same room on separate laptops whilst still communicating via blogs does not make them special.
Hmph!

To PirateBoy:
#1: Don't even try, you wimpy sprout-eatin' Californian. Florida is Number One in home foreclosures in the entire country, and we are damn proud of it!
#2: It had better be raspberry...or else. Krpyskstan.
#3: There is no number 3.
#4: 17
#5: One: "Stiarway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin.
So, what did I win?

About three years ago, Mrs. PB and I were discussing a possible trip to Florida to see and participate in the Hunt in person. But after reading all the clues, *and* the answers the next day, I think I've only solved/understood one question.!
What can I say? I'm a product of the Kalifornia educational system. And we all know there's no logic to be found there.
Good luck, hunters!
