[Note to NYC area bloglits - please contact me (put cursor on my name below to see my email address) if you want to arrange something around this Dave/Ridley appearance, or if you just want to meet some fellow members of the Order Of The Blog. I've got one definite beside myself, one likely, and one maybe so far
Please bring disinfectant for the secret handshake.]

While waiting for the book to come out, how 'bout a round of Twister?
Posted by: Mahatma Kane Jeeves ‹(•¿•)› | October 08, 2008 at 02:28 PM
Wow! You can count on those Hubble kids for an awesome science project!
Posted by: Danny | October 08, 2008 at 02:32 PM
So NOW we know what Dave's basement looks like!
Disney's not paying too much these days, eh?
Posted by: Punkin | October 08, 2008 at 02:33 PM
Danny, that was supposed to be a private matter.
Posted by: Margaritaville | October 08, 2008 at 02:34 PM
And it scares me that Dave and Ridley might be influencing an entire generation.
Posted by: Margaritaville | October 08, 2008 at 02:35 PM
Punkin, I think they drank their budget (iycmd)
Posted by: Siouxie | October 08, 2008 at 02:38 PM
So, it's a movie already? Kewl.
ps: MtB; move me from the "maybe" and/or "likely" column into the "definite" category. I'll email with a couple of meet 'n' greet watering hole possibilities nearby.
Posted by: Lairbo | October 08, 2008 at 02:41 PM
Hey Meanie?? Lairbo?? Have a slice of pizza and a beer on me! Wish I could join ya's butt, we'll be having our own book signing soiree here in Miyami.
Posted by: Siouxie | October 08, 2008 at 02:52 PM
Siouxie: done and done.
Would it be too weird for Dave to liveblog his own booksigning? Very post-modern. I'm not saying he should, just thinking out loud again.
Posted by: Lairbo | October 08, 2008 at 02:56 PM
i THINK this was a project with a university in texas... a filmmaking class? but i don't recall the details; as soon as i get them i will put the credits in the info box on youtube.
Posted by: judi | October 08, 2008 at 03:10 PM
I plan on
stalkingseeing Dave in Portland OR. Hope to catch up with the Pacific NW Order forsome stimulating conversation about the booka beer!Posted by: Cheryl Howard | October 08, 2008 at 03:14 PM
This better work, Dave. My Disney stock is going down the toilet.
Posted by: Mike Antonucci | October 08, 2008 at 03:18 PM
And when can we expect to see this Academy Award vehicle award vehicle in theaters?
Posted by: cowhand214 | October 08, 2008 at 03:18 PM
BOOOooooOOOWAAAAAAHAHAHAhahat was purty funny!
Posted by: CJrun | October 08, 2008 at 03:31 PM
Well, I appreciate the sentiment, Siouxie, but my and Lairbo's butts really don't need joining, thank you.
I'm sure Lairbo is of like mind.
Posted by: Meanie the Blue | October 08, 2008 at 03:33 PM
That's quite a rollout for a book.
You sure about that Meanie? Lairbo said he's "definite."
Posted by: Suzy Q | October 08, 2008 at 03:44 PM
Let's knock it off with the cheeky comments, already.
Posted by: Lairbo | October 08, 2008 at 03:48 PM
Heh! that just cracks me up!
Posted by: Siouxie | October 08, 2008 at 03:57 PM
cowhand214: I'm pretty sure this is on the fast-track to being released straight to...............................wait for it, "Beta" If any of you young whippersnappers remember "Beta"
Posted by: PeeJay | October 08, 2008 at 04:02 PM
Hopefully the book signing in Chicagoland won't be on Halloween again!
I'm thinking that the day after Thanksgiving should be a quiet shopping day.

NMUA - Naperville is set for 10/15. :) Happy signing!!
Posted by: Diva | October 08, 2008 at 04:16 PM
Finally, a drama.
Posted by: Jazzzz | October 08, 2008 at 04:32 PM
does this have Chuck Norris, and Ah-node, and Sly?
Posted by: Jazzzz | October 08, 2008 at 04:35 PM
Looks more like it might star Bill Nye....
Posted by: Diva | October 08, 2008 at 04:45 PM
we're in! judi and siouxie: drink before/after the miami signing?
Posted by: nora | October 08, 2008 at 04:55 PM
nora - yes.
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | October 08, 2008 at 05:05 PM
What Annie said. There is ALWAYS drinking before/after book signings.
Posted by: Suzy Q | October 08, 2008 at 05:08 PM
There is a Hubble Middle School in Wheaton, Illinois, a few miles from the Naperville book signing. Apparently Jim Belushi made quite a stir at an assembly at his grade school alma mater when he indicated that education was not important a couple of weeks ago, so Dave might be able to get some mileage from a pro-literacy position.

That "Evil Laughing Guy" looks like Mike McShane... Is that who it was?
Posted by: Steve (The 24 Guy) | October 08, 2008 at 05:17 PM
I see the resemblance too, Steve. But unless McShane has dropped a lot of weight and gained a lot of gray since "Big Trouble", I'm thinking not.
Posted by: WriterDude | October 08, 2008 at 05:33 PM
Yeah, I'd have sworn it was McShane when I first watched it. Now I'm not so sure, so I'm downgrading my swear to "dagnabbit" until further notice.
Posted by: Lairbo | October 08, 2008 at 05:37 PM
here I am, minding my own binniss, and I get a visual of Lairbo's and Meanie's butts being co-joined.....please kill me
Posted by: Jazzzz | October 08, 2008 at 07:19 PM
The frog was a pretty good actor. I think I've seen him somewhere before.
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | October 08, 2008 at 07:43 PM
High School biology class maybe Annie?

Or BUTTOX...
Posted by: Jazzzz | October 08, 2008 at 08:16 PM
Yep, Anderson's in Naperville at 7:00 PM in one week, on Wednesday the 15th. That's only a day after the book comes out, so that'll require Just-In-Time delivery for added excitement!
I'll be teleporting in from my day job at a National
Science FairLaboratory about 8 miles away, coincidentally about the same distance as Hubble Middle School is from Anderson's.If history is any guide, anybody who wants to spot the famous authors in their natural habitat can probably do so by showing up earlier two doors down at Lou Malnati's.
UnFortunately, there's no need to be watching any baseball next week. Anybody want to meet up there about 6:00? Alias? Cat? Bueller?Posted by: danceswithvowels | October 08, 2008 at 11:10 PM
Hey, dances! I'm planning on being there -- my kids want to come, which means I'll be squeaking in around 7pm. They met Dave and Ridley two years ago for a Starcatchers signing. They also remember their mom acting like a star-struck doofus, but that's nothing new.
(Dave, remember to heed my then-10-year-old's advice when you read aloud: "Use more expression.")
Oh, and the eye patches were a huge hit then. Maybe you should give out beakers or something this time. Just a suggestion. Expectations are high.
Posted by: Cat R | October 09, 2008 at 01:16 AM
Cool, Cat! I'll be on lookout for you. I haven't decided on a costume yet, but it probably won't involve floating hands and eyepatches, arrrr.
Posted by: danceswithvowels | October 09, 2008 at 05:37 AM
Costume? Yikes! I'd better start planning now!
Posted by: Cat R | October 09, 2008 at 08:41 AM
Oh, and those floating hands look like a Photoshop Disasters entry.
Posted by: Cat R | October 09, 2008 at 08:45 AM
I fear that my Naperville costume may have to be "Soccer Coach" complete with an authentic youth soccer player. With sunset at 6:11 pm (in the cheap neighborhoods west of Naperville, we get an extra minute of daylight), I have a decent chance at getting to Lou's about ten minutes before the signing.
Posted by: Not My Usual Alias | October 09, 2008 at 09:05 AM
Cat, I think they should give away lab goggles.
