I saw the Barnes & Noble ad today. October 14th in Tribeca! Be there. Aloha.

if you're gonna do all that, why not be Scottish scientists?
WE WANT KILTS. WE WANT KILTS.
come on, ladies.
WE WANT KILTS.

*snork* at judi
yeah, c'mon guys...show us some legs!
Posted by: southerngirl | October 01, 2008 at 05:37 PM
Be gentle when you hit the road - looks like a long trip !
Posted by: Telecomdropout | October 01, 2008 at 05:40 PM
We want Kilts!
and, for you to come to Tulsa!!! Come ON!!!! My son loves your "Peter" books, and this sounds like a natural for him!!!!

If you wear a kilt whilst hitting the road, you'll cushion the blow by landing on your sporran.
I gotta sit down - that was way too lyrical a sentence for me.

WE WANT KILTS !
And we want them in SOUTHERN California !!!
Posted by: Telecomdropout | October 01, 2008 at 05:44 PM
i feel the same way about the ingrid michaelson tour in northern florida!! :(
Posted by: judi | October 01, 2008 at 06:21 PM
Dave, why is your wig leaning to the right? Does that mean something?
Posted by: Melody Platz | October 01, 2008 at 06:26 PM
How has this book not been mentioned here before? Was I sleeping that day?
Also, Dave: Did you stock up on toasters and strawberry Pop-Tarts? Mentos and Pepsi?
Posted by: Suzy Q | October 01, 2008 at 06:52 PM
Also, you're doing a book signing the weekend of the Topic Hunt? Are you mad? Oh, wait...nevermind.
Posted by: Suzy Q | October 01, 2008 at 06:53 PM
Please do not supercollide us into oblivion whilst you are strumpeting! If you do wear kilts, it's a good idea to not let the kids sit on the floor, lest they get another lesson in biology.
Posted by: Margaritaville | October 01, 2008 at 06:55 PM
A little sleuthing on the Anderson site yielded the following information -- "Chicago" is actually Naperville, IL.
Woooooo hoooooo!
Dave, I don't know if you and Ridley ever ate those Bohemian kolacky I gave you when you strumpted in Naperville in '06 (and got stuck at the airport), but if you liked them, I can score ya some more.
I have connections...
Posted by: Cat R | October 01, 2008 at 07:03 PM
Will they or won't they? The suspense is kilting me.
Posted by: emkay | October 01, 2008 at 07:04 PM
4th Book in the Peter series? What is #3? I missed it.
Two of my teenagers are in a Performing Troupe and they are considering performing a musical version of Peter & the Starcatchers.
Posted by: Dad-O-Lot | October 01, 2008 at 07:15 PM
Dave and Ridley attempted some science experiments and the audience got kilts.
Posted by: CJrun | October 01, 2008 at 07:31 PM
Dave & Ridley - Has SK told you not to strumpet in his northern New England territory??? Is THAT why you won't come here???? Tell him to share!
Tell him nicely and offer him cake. (We don't want him getting angry - we wouldn't like him when he's angry!!)
Posted by: Punkin | October 01, 2008 at 07:37 PM
Dad-O-Lot - Book #3 was Peter and Secret of Rundoon, which featured a flying, pooping camel. I highly recommend it! The book, not the flying camel...
I'm very excited to learn a 4th book is on the way!
Dave, please come to the Northwest. There are several fine breweries up here. Red Hook is about a mile from a Barnes & Noble...
Posted by: kristie | October 01, 2008 at 07:40 PM
Dave too bad you and Ridley aren't coming to SoCal. I could have given you a tour of a real lab and brought you lots of mad scientist accessories. I'll send my copy of the book to Judi to get it signed. Enjoy your trip.
Posted by: Mad Scientist Weasel | October 01, 2008 at 07:44 PM
I'm sorry, Judi ! :(
Guess Mick Jagger was right:
We can't always get what we want. Even if we try sometimes. **sigh**
Posted by: Telecomdropout | October 01, 2008 at 07:45 PM
I looked and looked, but Walter is nowhere to be seen in that photo.
I join Punkin in the Northern New England Petition. (Stamford was fine, but really, do you have something against Boston?)
Posted by: Guin | October 01, 2008 at 08:05 PM
Well Daveboy, I looked and looked but there's no mention of Atlanta, GA on that tour sched --- what's the deal, it's been YEARS since we saw you here. I mean, since you were here you've been to Italy and China, from Dan to Beersheba, surely it's our turn by now!
Or maybe it's just a typo.
Posted by: marina_like_a_boatdock | October 01, 2008 at 08:30 PM
We do NOT want kilts.
Posted by: The Guys | October 01, 2008 at 08:31 PM
What? Dave has another blog and didn't tell us about it? How long has this been going on? (Ok, July 2008, but that still leaves another question.)
If you can't trust a man with his own Lift Station named after him, who can you trust?
Posted by: oneblankspace | October 01, 2008 at 08:31 PM
Yeah! I'll be meeting him in Scottsdale on the 22. Of course, now that I set out the warning, Dave will probably arrange to cancel his appearance there.
Posted by: Schadeboy | October 01, 2008 at 08:40 PM
When I clicked on the map, I actually expected something like this.
Posted by: Schadeboy | October 01, 2008 at 08:44 PM
YAY!! Dave's coming to Miami ;-P
*runs and hides from disgruntled bloglits*
Posted by: Siouxie | October 01, 2008 at 08:45 PM
Oscar Mayer Lawyer No. 1: Who's this guy who forgot the little TM sign after Wienermobile, and also forgot to pay us an astronomical licensing fee for using the word Wienermobile?
Oscar Mayer Lawyer No. 2: Dunno. Some dude in a lab coat, dorky goggles, and Bob Dylan's hair.
No. 1: How we gonna find him? Oh, wait a minute. Whad'ya know -- it's a map, with addresses and dates!
No. 2: Man oh man, I wish they were all this easy.
Posted by: Danny | October 01, 2008 at 08:58 PM
"YAY!! Dave's
coming to Miamiriding the beer cooler from Coral Gables to Coral Gables".Ok, ok, that's a busy schedule, especially given Herald Hunt, butt Coral Gables shouldn't count!
Posted by: CJrun | October 01, 2008 at 09:00 PM
kristie -- consider making the trip to Portland. Dave can get Full Sail there. ;-)
Seriously, Dave is very
frightened bygracious to his fans. I can personally guarantee that you'll find meeting him most enjoyable. Oh, and if you put a big bandage on your forehead, Ridley will take your picture with him.Posted by: WriterDude | October 01, 2008 at 09:04 PM
Scottsdale's a puddle jump from LA. I'm considering going to that one, too, Schadeboy. After all, Dave's venturing a couple thousand miles, the least I can do is meet him part way.
CJ, IMHO, I think every moment away from home counts.
Danny, maybe it's a Weinermobile. "I" before "e" except after a hot dog.
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | October 01, 2008 at 09:21 PM
is there still a november disney date?
Posted by: nora | October 01, 2008 at 09:28 PM
Annie,
I beleive you're right.
Posted by: Danny | October 01, 2008 at 09:39 PM
Ok, Dave. We were undefeated in football (i refuse to acknowledge that superbowl), we won the penant (or some series), an irish team one some basketball trophy AND we have SK. What is not to love about New England??
Oh and could you bring the kilts?
Thanks.
Posted by: Laurie | October 01, 2008 at 09:41 PM
one, won ...whatever...
just get up here!
Posted by: Laurie | October 01, 2008 at 09:43 PM
Hey Guin, maybe if you serenaded Dave...
Posted by: frodolives | October 01, 2008 at 10:10 PM
Sooooooo - thanks to WriterDude's link to the past, I now know why we call SoCal Su.So.Cal. THANK YOU !! All this time we were thinking it was "sunny" SoCal, but you were the original "super" SoCal. Huh.
We think so too ! : )
And thanks again for clearing that up !
Posted by: Telecomdropout | October 01, 2008 at 10:18 PM
Cat R, sorry I didn't respond to your post from yesterday until now, but I REALLY DID go to bed before I got that post, and was very busy at work today. But THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for asking about my mom. There were a bunch of doctors who were convinced that she had a (OK, gonna' do this Dave Barry blog style...)
PEpulmonary embolismblood clot in the lung. But after all the CAT (HAR!) scans, MRIs, and sonograms, they couldn't find any evidence of one (kinda' like Steve Fossett, until today!... but I digress!) But most everyone working with my mom thought that's what it was... Yesterday, her primary physician walked into her hospital room and said, "Ahhh, that's Bullsh1t! There's no evidence of a clot, I think it's "a mucous plug" (apparently where sinus drainage blocks the bronchioles so you can't get air into the lungs, kinda' like pneumonia, or when Annie makes you *SNORK*, or Siouxie pulls out her machete!!!). But mom's home now and doing fine! She was sure she was going to die that night, but now she's laughing like she always has!! YAAAYYY!(Not to mention that I saw "The Mucous Plugs" open for "Deep Purple" in the '70's...)

First the Large
HardonHadron Collider and now this! Go ahead and amuse yourselves, Congress, and bail out Wall St. It's not gonna matter after this tour.(Attention Braniff and other NYC area bloglits - shoot me an email, maybe we can arrange a
raucous blowoutcordial get-together on the 14th).Posted by: Meanie the Blue | October 01, 2008 at 11:03 PM
We're very excited. Because we will be doing scientific demonstrations,
No way I see this ending well.
Posted by: fivver | October 01, 2008 at 11:23 PM
That's great news, frodo. Glad to hear your mom is back in fine snorking form!
Posted by: Cat R | October 01, 2008 at 11:30 PM
Cat, ya' coming to meet Dave and Ridley at Anderson's? I'll see you there!
And I agree that kilts (not KILTs, the radios at 610 AMs in Houstons) would be beneficial since it would undoubtedly reduce the time needed for bathroom breaks, which I understand from judi is a major source of concern to publicists around the world and keeps authors from even considering a quick side-trip to certain laboratories than make science fresh every day around the clock and might even
destroy the earthmake the last big physics discovery before that new one in Switzerland/France, even though the authors have written book chock full of scienciness and there are bison who would probably look the other way if bathroom breaks were necessary, but the goggles and hair might cause a stampede. Not that anyone is bitter. And a 4th Starcatchers book you say? Sounds like a trip to Scotland is in order. Maybe to check out secret streets in St Andrews.
Posted by: danceswithbosons | October 01, 2008 at 11:31 PM
Yep, I'm going! See you there!
All this science talk is making my brain hurt. I'm halfway through "A Briefer History of Time" by Stephen Hawking. I'd better finish it so I'm up to speed with all youse scientists (har!).
Posted by: Cat R | October 01, 2008 at 11:45 PM
Hey! Bison -- I just deciphered what you meant. Fermilab rocks!
Seriously. We saw "Barrage" play there last spring. They rocked the house.
So, you're a Fermilab
nuclear physicirocket scientbrainiac?I'm feeling smarter already.

*zaps in*
Anyone say KILTS???
*swoons*
*zaps out*
Posted by: Siouxie | October 02, 2008 at 12:07 AM
No stops in SoCal? That can hardly be called "going around the country."
Posted by: SW | October 02, 2008 at 12:37 AM
OMG!!1! Dave is Dr. Horrible!
Posted by: ScottMGS | October 02, 2008 at 02:10 AM
i'll miss you this time, dave. see you on the next one.
Posted by: mudstuffin | October 02, 2008 at 08:26 AM
What!! no visits to Texas???
We do read here you know.
Books, even.
real ones, without pictures.
My children reminded me that they have seen Peter and the Secret of Rundoon and also reminded me that I still have not bought it for them and that I had better look carefully in my shoes every morning before I put them on.
I'll be buying that book now.
