NOT A FUNNY POST
I hope Dave doesn't mind, but I'd like to take this opportunity to suggest - just in case anyone has not been watching one of the major networks (all of which showed the same program) - that you go to standup2cancer.org, check it out, and possibly - if you are interested and able, and you think the idea has merit - donate a few dollars for the fight against cancer. As Meryl Streep described, back in the 1930s, Eddie Cantor invited everyone to send in just one dime to help fight polio... and we don't know which dime, which dollar, put them over the top and paid for the research that eliminated the threat of polio.
Anyway, the show's over, but they'll probably still take your donation.
Hey, if he's gonna fire me anyway, might as well do some good.

Thanks, judi. We just contributed.
And if I may correct you:
standup2cancer.org.

Already planning to, judi. I watch part of the program. Thanks for letting everyone else know.
If Dave fires you for this, I may just have to *smack* him ;-)

LOL judi!

and I watchED it too.
Posted by: Siouxie | September 05, 2008 at 09:14 PM
Well done, judi! And I hope this doesn't distract from the cause and need for donations and charity, to add some levity to the topic, I didn't know Meryl Streep was alive in the '30s...

Thanks for the reminder, judi. I lost a dear aunt to cancer and another family member is battling it right now.
I made my donation. I noticed that it talked about "teams". Could we have a Barry Blogits team? They will allow you to return to the site on September 8th to assign your donation to a team.
Or we could call it the Judi Must Never be Fired team.

Oops. Donation made, but I closed the browser before registering. (Registering allows you to go back on Sept 8th and assign your donation to a team.)
So, anyway, if you want to assign it to a team, don't forget to regiter. DOH!

Fire Judi? He'd sooner fire his right arm. And either one would be damn inconvenient, for lots of reasons...

Judi, you are a total goddess. My sister just got diagnosed with stomach cancer - very early, thank God, but so scary all the same. Thank you for posting this.

Yay, judi. Thanks for posting this. You done good.

I am a young adult who was diagnosed with cancer on December 19, 2006 and finally declared in remission on April 1, 2008. I beg everyone to donate or volunteer with an advocacy group or ask someone with cancer if they just need help or a hug. As they said last night, us young adults are the forgotten cancer generation - our survival rates aren't great and no research is geared towards our age group.
Anything anyone could give would be a tremendous relief. But if you want to deduct it for tax purposes, it must be at least $25. So you might as well donate more.
Please?

((((((((((Sarah))))))))) consider this as close to an actual hug as I could give you. I do have a neighbor who's husband is battling brain cancer and I've often offered to do anything I could. She even appreciates it when I ask how SHE's doing. Like she told me once...cancer sucks. So yeah...it needs to be done in whatever capacity.
Good luck to you and I hope you've beaten this horrible disease.

If you can't afford to donate $$, or don't want to donate $$, you can also give time, hugs, morale support, drive someone to an appointment, participate as a research subject ..... the list is endless.... and above all - encourage everyone to see a doctor before little weird symptoms turn into big ugly symptoms.
oh, yeah, and BOOGER!
Posted by: azred | September 06, 2008 at 02:02 PM
excellent point, azred. Everyone has something to give. And everyone has someone to lose. Fling a booger at cancer!

Thanks, jeff.
And if I may correct you:
Booger!

judi, ditto emkay's first sentence. I would totally have missed this if not for you. Now, SU2C has a donation in honor of my late uncle (who passed earlier this week) they otherwise would have missed, and you get all the credit. You rock, girl!
I hope Dave doesn't mind if we ask him to donate, too. ;-)

Thank you for posting this Judi. My wife chairs the relay for life event at our (very small) church each year. This year the goal was $2500.00 and she got $3400.00. I lost a lung last year to cancer (DON'T SMOKE) and my mom and grandfather died from cancer as well. And BOOGER also :)

THANKS to all my huggers! It really made my day. Even though I've been off chemo for almost six months now (!!), I'm still plagued by nausea and fatigue; I had to cut an evening short with friends tonight due to nausea and am trying to figure out a way to sleep sitting up so the bile doesn't rise...
And these hugs just made all the difference. Dave's readers and Ms. Judi are awesome.
(((((((EVERYONE ON HERE)))))))

Okay, I've made a donation in memory of my cousin Angela who bravely fought breast cancer twice. She lost the fight in 2005 and I miss her every day.
Here's hoping the money everyone donates to SU2C will find the cure, thus saving others from going through what Angela did.
Blessings on you all.
