In the Navy...!

Wait, I get it now -- Edna is gender inclusive, but the sign painter is dyslexic.
Posted by: WriterDude | September 03, 2008 at 05:18 PM
Speaking of gender inclusive....

Wow, CJ! Wasn't that the same premise for that old sitcom "My Two Dads"?
I don't know. I never saw it. I think it had B.J. in it, without the Bear.. and what's the point of that?
Posted by: clark Kent | September 03, 2008 at 05:26 PM
Too funny! Thanks, CJ -- I hadn't seen or heard that one.
Posted by: WriterDude | September 03, 2008 at 05:31 PM
clark, honestly - I thought you said it had a BJ without a BeEr, and what's the point of that...
I blame Siouxie.

It's Ok, Annie.... I blame global cooling.
I'm still hoping it will catch on.

Is it me or does it seem that the photos Dave shared from the DNC were "wilder"?
Posted by: Biggin | September 03, 2008 at 05:39 PM
I'm with you, Biggin. Looks like "Fun Squared" is false advertising.
Posted by: WriterDude | September 03, 2008 at 05:43 PM
Biggin, consider the differences; this week got off to a delayed start and has been filled with exterior ugliness, including the throwing of bleach, ammonia, and urine on delegates, plus now it sounds like the 'protestors' have been busted for plotting to kidnap delegates (I suppose they would send in a funny hat as Proof of Life).
I don't blame Dave for staying near the fence!

I always thought St. Paul was village.
Posted by: Erb's point | September 03, 2008 at 06:01 PM
Clark - did it swallow?
Posted by: pogo | September 03, 2008 at 06:07 PM
P.S. On the Terry Moran video link, I can't really take any credit. I don't link to other blogs on the Blog, but I found that on Aussie Dave's blog, http://www.israellycool.com/
I find him funny, and insightful; a useful place to check for news from the Middle East, but that blog has a rightward political slant. Still, he has a sense of humor and I appreciate that.

as a professional math-type person, i can say that is at most the square root of fun...
Posted by: insomniac | September 03, 2008 at 06:13 PM
to go back to the original question: doesn't it seem a little quieter in general, and a little emptier at the RNC, when you watch it on TV? i saw lots and lots of empty seats last night... though i suppose i'm comparing when obama spoke with when lieberman spoke, so that's not realistic ;)
Posted by: judi | September 03, 2008 at 06:13 PM
to be fair, i have to admit i have pestered dave unmercifully for more pics to put in the gallery.
Posted by: judi | September 03, 2008 at 06:21 PM
Keep pestering, judi. We need more WILD and CRAZY photos like these.
I'm willing to bet it'll be a packed house tonight and tomorrow. I believe the Florida
craziesdelegates will be dressed as an orange. Or in orange. I forget which. CJ's gonna borrow Hillary's pantsuit.Posted by: Siouxie | September 03, 2008 at 06:31 PM
judi, I would suggest he needs a Research Assistant, to handle the calls to Wasilla.
Plus, if I know Dave, even a little bit, the party is at Jasperwood. I'm looking forward to that story.

so, if the repairman at the whatever corporate entity paid St Paul the most $ for naming rights Arena are carrying guns (they also each have a years supply of cable ties-zippy strips- on their tool belts what the hell do the Twin Cities cops carry?
Posted by: rickh | September 03, 2008 at 06:40 PM
judi, it did look pretty "low key", to put it nicely. Now I just need to know what the "political display" was!

The very short, tense Boxer statue is obviously Harry Reid. Harry was a boxer; his boxing name was "Pinky".
The guy perched on a stool is Nancy Pelosi. That is her natural pose, perched on a stool.

Strange that no one has commented on Nathan Fillion's appearance with Craig Ferguson last night. After a brief clip from Dr. Horrible that I must admit didn't make the show appear any more enticing, they spent the whole five or six minutes talking about koala bears and Alberta wildlife -- not a word on Firefly. Charming fellow, but I'm sorry to say not what you would call a memorable or electric interview. Maybe next time...
Posted by: Steve Haller | September 03, 2008 at 07:25 PM
I thought that was Barbara Boxer.
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | September 03, 2008 at 07:34 PM
so dave, how much is that doggy in the window?
i noticed that dave has been wearing a jacket for this gig. i assume it's because of the buttoned down company he's keeping.
Posted by: crossgirl | September 03, 2008 at 07:45 PM
They need more 'Fun2' signs. If they had more signs, they'd have more 'fun.'
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | September 03, 2008 at 07:50 PM
Oh! Oh! I totally want that old wooden file cabinet in the first photo. Dave, you wouldn't mind picking that up while you are there, would ya?
Okay, I'm back. A couple of weeks in the Oregon Wilderness up near Crater Lake, which after about 60 visits, still takes my breath away. The Rogue River is amazing. Cedar trees 6 feet across, fresh river water so cold it stings. And a frickin chipmunck that acted as an alarm every morning at about 6 am. 3 dogs and not one of them could catch him.

Yay, Cheryl's back! Now try to keep up ----->

Hah! I knew it!
Dave was at Jasperwood and it was James' 50th birthday, last night.
Posted by: CJrun | September 03, 2008 at 08:25 PM
steve, i taped it and just watched it a couple of minutes ago. it was pretty darned uninteresting, especially considering the clip from dr. horrible was not even nathan singing! sheesh.
Posted by: judi | September 03, 2008 at 09:01 PM
Cheryl!!! Welcome back, GF!!! Vermin's ------>here too
