Just because "The Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech," doesn't a judge won't throw your @$$ is jail for cursing at him. Those two words of the First Amendment tend to be ignored fairly often.

Interestingly enough, the article was blocked by my work bot.

It's good to be da judge.

al: some public school dropout called a judge an a-hole after he refused to accept her excuses to get out of jury duty. he threw her in jail and fined her.

So the courts will uphold your right to free speech, unless that speech is in the court? How Kafkaesque!
Posted by: Braniff | July 15, 2008 at 01:35 PM
Oh yeah, I want her on MY jury....
Posted by: padraig | July 15, 2008 at 01:42 PM
He was kind of an A-Hole.

The 1st Amendment is primarily concerned with political speech, and prohibits the Executive Branch from restricting your speech. It does not however prevent the Judicial Branch from punishing offensive behavior in court.

mud, now how do you know she called him an a-hole? The article only said that it was a two syllable crude word that refers to the anus. Coulda been "sphincter".
Posted by: Layzeeboy | July 15, 2008 at 02:06 PM
What did she call him? It sounds like some crossword puzzle clue or a Jeopardy:
"two-syllable curse word—a crude term referring to the anus".

Go to Vote for Worst Judge.
Select the judge of your choice, and vote for worst judge, take or view polls of his performance, or leave comments.
It won't accomplish anything except amusement, but it can be cathartic if you get a gluteal orifice for a judge.

I did not know it was illegal, and I did not mean to cause disrespect, a**h***” she said.

Ok..I'll play.
"What is JAP ANUS relations for $400, Alex??"

WWJJHD? (What Would Jude Judy Have Done?)

I want to sit in on her trial:
"Your Honor, what evidence can you present to this court to show that you are, in fact, Not an Ass-Hole?"
Posted by: MartiniShark | July 15, 2008 at 02:54 PM
Layz, something tells me that she does not know the word "sphincter"
Posted by: oldmanatee | July 15, 2008 at 02:56 PM
If she was clever she could have said she was referring to herself, that her medical condition was hemorrhoids and she would be unable to "sit" on the jury.
Posted by: MartiniShark | July 15, 2008 at 02:56 PM
So she got slapped with an anus corpus, huh?

*slaps Sean*

When her "I got a leaky heart valve" excuse didn't work she added, "and I'm a racist."
Amazingly, that didn't go over either - I mean, it was Ocala - and then she called him the @sshole.
Judges don't like backtalk from lawyers and they sure don't take it from potential jurors.
Even if he was one.

When the judge asked Muller to clarify her remark, Muller repeated it.
So much for the "just blurted it without thinking" excuse.

Is it just me or is it obvious the woman is mental? Couldn't the judge see that she was mental? Why put a mental person in jail? She never would have been selected for jury duty, anyway.
Posted by: Redneck | July 16, 2008 at 01:27 AM
23 and all those teeth. She's a catch. As long as you hook her by the back of the neck. Is this normal for Ocala? I have friends there and this topic doesn't come up much...hmmm...
Posted by: shell in ks | July 16, 2008 at 03:07 AM
...and I did not mean to cause disrespect,” she said.
Really! Apparently her family aspires to reach the status of a-hole.
