A POEM FOR MOMS

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Happy Mother's Day!
Now get off the Internet and sit around looking expectant until your children figure out that they should do something nice for you.

I was looking for some expectorant.

Posted by: SW | 10:32 AM on May 11, 2008

SW....is that like deoderant that works when you're pregnant?

Posted by: Jazzzz | 10:35 AM on May 11, 2008

Thanks, Dave! Happy Mommy's day to Mrs. BLog too! (is she sitting around expectant??)

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL THE GORGEOUS BLOG GALS! WE ROCK!

judi, I barely got any sleep last night. One daughter was off at prom and stayed over a friend's - didn't hear from her till 2:30 am. Other daughter and friend were off clubbing till 4:30 am. I'm sure they'll sleep all day as well, but I am thankful they're healthy and SAFE! I think I've earned whatever it is I'm supposed to have bought myself.

Here is my Mother's Day vid for all of you...

[Sorry, they may run an ad first. But you can check out the caption underneath while you wait...]

Posted by: Steve Haller | 11:07 AM on May 11, 2008

Er, doesn't "expectant" mean, like, pregnant?

Posted by: ScottMGS | 11:07 AM on May 11, 2008

No, jazzz, I don't think they make one that works when you're pregnant.

Posted by: SW | 11:09 AM on May 11, 2008

I will second Siouxie's Happy Mothers Day wishes to all the blogmoms. You do rock.

Also, Judi, I agree that it's great when our kids think we're cool enough to hang out with. Doing the dishes, though, that's in a separate league and I expect that I might have a heart attack should either of my kids voluntarily load the dishwasher.

To all the blog Moms, a very, very memorable Moter's day from across the ocean.

yawns and stretches Happy Mother's Day!

I got of the net and napped, Dave. Woke up to hear mini-me call to 'splain how she needs to stay at Dad's for the Meerkat Manor Marathon today. I gave her the day off. It's her favoritest, favoritest show, and I refuse to pay for cable.

My High Speed DSL, now THAT'S another matter, entirely. :)

I'm expecting to take a nap soon.

Posted by: Siouxie | 11:30 AM on May 11, 2008

Nice try there, Mot, creating a holiday -- Moter's Day -- just for yourself. If you're serious about it, though, talk to Desk Diva, I think she knows people at Hallmark.

A very happy Mother's Day to all the Mom-Bloggettes out there. I hope you all get treated to brunch and gifted with bouquets of flowers, and while napping, dream of hunky fireman serving you mojitos, or whatever.

Happy Mother's Day, blogmoms!

The girlduckling came in for the weekend, and although she's spent most of it seeing her friends, she is squeezing in dinner with me this evening. I'm just glad she came home. (We won't mention that her birthday was earlier in the week, and she's expectorant expecting presents.) We'll all go out for dinner this evening. I'm going to visit my mom for lunch shortly. Mom will be 88 in August, and I'm just glad she's still around, in pretty good health, to celebrate Mother's Day.

thanks for the text, siouxie ;)

scott: well, i asked him to do the dishes a couple of days ago. :) so it wasn't exactly voluntary... but close enough for me.

happy mommy's day to all the mommies :) and the mommies' mommies. i didn't think of a really good gift til late yesterday - and it's too $$ for just the kids - so i probably won't get it. but i probably should just buy it for myself, dontcha think? seems like a mother's day kinda thing.

Posted by: judi | 12:10 PM on May 11, 2008

Also, thanks, Dave & all the blogguys, for the good wishes. Being a mom can be tough, sometimes.

(Siouxie, take a nap!) ;-)

Posted by: Just Ducky | 12:12 PM on May 11, 2008

Judi: you should definitely get the thing, christen it the "Mommack" and call permanent first dibs on it, with second dibs going to any visitors who are Moms.

Posted by: Lairbo | 12:31 PM on May 11, 2008

Thanks, everyone. Happy Mutha's Day to all.

judi - this is a nice accessory. Maybe not for your kids to buy you, but....

My brother Mark bought my mum a shotgan, pistol grip, "street sweeper".

Posted by: Jerry | 01:06 PM on May 11, 2008

Siouxie...when you wake from your expectant nap, check your mail ;-).............Jazzzz

Posted by: Jazzzz | 01:16 PM on May 11, 2008

Judi....that looks uncomfortable.....do you tie your shoe laces and hair to the poles?

Posted by: Jazzzz | 01:21 PM on May 11, 2008

judi, I think it's perfectly all right to buy yourself a present for Mother's Day, birthday, any occasion. Go for it!

My present to myself was to watch the Yankees in HD while eating all the great food my daughter was bringing over from the Jewish deli.
Progress report: Game cancelled due to rain.
Daughter just called. Still in parking lot, can't find parking. *sigh*

private message to Stevie - very sweet post, tyvm :)

Posted by: Eleanor | 01:50 PM on May 11, 2008

Silly Jazzz...it's a pole for dancing.

Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | 01:50 PM on May 11, 2008

DOH !

Posted by: Jazzzz | 02:02 PM on May 11, 2008

AWBH...any idea why Judi must allow 2 to 3 additional days for delivery of that item?
Hose it down, maybe?

Posted by: Jazzzz | 02:05 PM on May 11, 2008

Kinda. When it's new, the ropes on the sides have to be worked in just right so they don't pinch anyone. Siouxie told me.

Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | 02:10 PM on May 11, 2008

My children have done zilch for me (teenagers!) but my husband gets 10 gold stars for bringing me .... A CASE OF WINE!

GOOD husband! GOOD boy!

I sent my Mom two dozen roses. Well, my wife sent my Mom roses. My wife intervened when she found out what I wanted to include on the card:

Mom -- Watch out! Lynn and Carl want to put you in an old person's home. Just remember that I'm the only one who really loves you.

My siblings thanked my wife for intervening.
