"She was no longer Mrs. R., but rather a malevolent, insidious witch with a coloured mask."
Yeah, well, you were no prize neighbor either, stoner!

The two litres of milk he drank might have had something to do with his 'bad trip'. I'm just sayin'...
Posted by: baligurl | April 30, 2008 at 12:20 PM
By any chance, does this Mrs. R live on Wisteria Lane?

Death = the ultimate bad trip.
Posted by: Siouxie | April 30, 2008 at 12:36 PM
Not at 102 Siouxie. He just reached the end of his ability to experience everything he could within the human consciousness. That being said I need a beer. Who's tending bar today?
Posted by: Doc Rick | April 30, 2008 at 12:43 PM
Milk..... it does a body good....

This is your brain.
This is your brain on Mrs. R's link.
Posted by: Meanie the Blue | April 30, 2008 at 01:20 PM
Mrs R's link looks like Kermit the Frog meets Pirates of the Caribbean
Posted by: jug | April 30, 2008 at 01:25 PM

Posted by: Siouxie | April 30, 2008 at 01:25 PM
Judi - I think it means your browser doesn't support certain ASCII characters that we have been using to show upside down letters.
Posted by: Meanie the Blue | April 30, 2008 at 01:26 PM
ohhhhhhhhh! that's probably it, Meanie. For a min there I thought judi was hitting the bottle earlier than usual. NTTAWWT

Memorial services will be held here.
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | April 30, 2008 at 01:31 PM
Thank you, Siouxie. Really. *swoon*
Posted by: baligurl | April 30, 2008 at 01:33 PM
What? That can't be right, Annie. I was told it would be here....
Posted by: Meanie the Blue | April 30, 2008 at 01:38 PM
OT, I just wanted to say, it's not too early to think about a nice Mother's Day card ...
Products with attitude ...
Posted by: Steve Haller | April 30, 2008 at 01:38 PM
Siouxie, I'll skip the vodka but a Shiner Bock sounds good about now. As for Mr. Hoffman, why is it the Swiss always come up with the cool stuff? Great watches, pocket knives, tasty hot chocolate, bikini teams and mind altering drugs. Not to mention no one ever invades them. Pretty kick arse country if you ask me. ;)
Posted by: Doc Rick | April 30, 2008 at 01:43 PM
That's for the reception afterwards. Make sure to wear something shiny.
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | April 30, 2008 at 01:44 PM
Why should I cover something shiny with something shiny?
Posted by: Meanie the Blue | April 30, 2008 at 01:45 PM
From the Department of Redundancy Department?
Posted by: baligurl | April 30, 2008 at 01:47 PM
For better reception.
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | April 30, 2008 at 01:52 PM
Especially if you don't want to miss the game.
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | April 30, 2008 at 01:54 PM
Here ya go, Meanie... for the shiny.
Posted by: Siouxie | April 30, 2008 at 01:57 PM
Annie, something tells me you used to save the foil gum wrappers when you were a kid.
Posted by: jug | April 30, 2008 at 01:58 PM
Hey, Siouxie - that's half off! Must be a mohawk in the back.
Meanie - just say 'no' to rugs.
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | April 30, 2008 at 01:59 PM
No to rugs.
No to plugs.
Yes to chugalugs.
Posted by: Meanie the Blue | April 30, 2008 at 02:02 PM

Posted by: queensbee | April 30, 2008 at 02:02 PM
Annie, I think more like a mullet.
Posted by: Siouxie | April 30, 2008 at 02:04 PM
I know that guy! I met Hoffman in the John at a nightclub in '67. He was a saleman, I thought. He acted a little peculiar, like all happy and ****.
Posted by: lilrascal | April 30, 2008 at 02:05 PM
jug - yes.
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | April 30, 2008 at 02:20 PM
Siouxie - half off the back, like this?
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | April 30, 2008 at 02:21 PM
Ewwwww, Annie. Just...ewwwww...
Posted by: baligurl | April 30, 2008 at 02:25 PM

Posted by: Siouxie | April 30, 2008 at 02:26 PM
Annie how did you get a picture of my ex brother in law?
Posted by: jug | April 30, 2008 at 02:26 PM
bali, Siouxie, I thought you two liked kitty-cats.
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | April 30, 2008 at 02:30 PM
What's REALLY weird, is that I, too, see only squares....and yet I understand them.
Duuuuuuuuuuude.
Anybody seen my legs anywhere?
Posted by: Punkin | April 30, 2008 at 02:32 PM
The ewwww was for Mr. Fuzzy, not Kitty Fuzzy.
(And that sentence kinda creeps me out.)
Posted by: baligurl | April 30, 2008 at 02:32 PM
Hofmann intentionally took a 250-milligram dose of LSD and experienced the world's first 'bad trip'.
Considering that most people who tripped took doses measured in micrograms... 250 mg is about equivalent to, ohhh, 1000 hits of modern day LSD. So he did as much in one sitting as I normally did in a year. Well, one year. Then I quit doing it...
Posted by: ex-tripper | April 30, 2008 at 02:37 PM
Sure took care of his headache. And, did wonders for his paranoid schizophrenia. Of course, differentiating between what was real and what was imaginery didn't matter. Reasearch, life, brains...who needs it. Multiple personality disorders. yesssssssssss!
Posted by: lilrascal | April 30, 2008 at 02:53 PM
A dude who took a lot of LSD in his day and proudly displays it
Posted by: lilrascal | April 30, 2008 at 03:03 PM
Wow, 102. Sorta deflates the argument that recreational drugs will kill you, dunnit?.
Posted by: WriterDude | April 30, 2008 at 03:18 PM
Laser Pink Floyd shows all over the world will be dark tonight in honor of his passing.

Posted by: crickets | April 30, 2008 at 04:58 PM
Actually, ex-addict, a commenter on the original article corrected that to 250 micrograms. For what it's worth, Wikipedia agrees.
Posted by: Richard the Weasel-Hearted | April 30, 2008 at 04:58 PM
i applied to LSD but they wouldn't accept me.
Posted by: packsaddle | April 30, 2008 at 05:04 PM
snork!
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | April 30, 2008 at 05:08 PM
What kind of beer goes best with a creamsicle?
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | April 30, 2008 at 05:13 PM
Annie: Here ya go.
Posted by: WriterDude | April 30, 2008 at 05:30 PM
Whoa, shiny. Thanks, WD. New post on my blog, just for you. :)
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | April 30, 2008 at 05:32 PM
Wow, really? Be right back!
Posted by: WriterDude | April 30, 2008 at 05:35 PM
Er, kinda...if you're the kind of guy who likes musical cats.
Sigh.
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | April 30, 2008 at 05:38 PM
You big fibber, Annie -- if that was just for me, it would have been about women, cars, beer or all three. Funny stuff as usual, though.
BTW, there's news to share with everyone up on my blog as of last night.
Posted by: WriterDude | April 30, 2008 at 05:52 PM
Congrats, WD - nice to know you're allowed out during the daytime now.
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | April 30, 2008 at 07:31 PM
WD, so...what's you're secret agent code name???
(Congrats!)
