As a resident of Hidalgo Co., I can affirm that the loonies (technical, medical term) are running the asylum....

Russellmc--
I'm not sure how the figures are related, but the NY Times says that of the 84,404 ballots cast in Hidalgo County, 73% went to Clinton.

And in other election-related news, the Brattleboro VT measure to arrest and indict Bush and Cheney has passed! Now if we could only figure out some way to lure them up there...

Steve - offer to sponsor a turkey shoot and Darwin Award in their name.

That's nothing. In S.Fl, the city of Hialeah re-elected Raul Martinez as mayor AFTER he got outta jail. He's still mayor.

Don't look at me, I didn't vote for him!

Sioux, Texas is doing its best to strip the State Moronic Voter title away from Florida. Gives us a little time. It'll happen.

Didn't Missouri once elect a dead guy to the senate? He musta had one helluva campaign slogan.
ps: SH: Announce that oil's been discovered under the Brattleboro courthouse, and when Bush and Cheney show up to claim eminent domain, slap the cuffs on 'em.

His conviction on those charges didn't sway voters this year for Bazan, who is popular for his policies of patrolling the streets around area schools and providing free escort services for funerals.
No wonder he's so popular.

Bsmth: Yeah, I guess once you've got the funeral procession vote locked up, you're sitting pretty.

They re-elected a dead guy with almost 70% of the vote. The loser? John Ashcroft.
Posted by: Merri Lee | March 05, 2008 at 11:38 AM
. . . and then Ashcroft got some real power. Scary!!!

Merri...They're always tellin' us to judge the candidates by their relative merits

Betsy, as in dead trumps loony?
Posted by: Texgal | March 05, 2008 at 02:35 PM
They're just following the lead of Hialeah (in Florida, of course). Raul Martinez, anyone?
