Here in Michigan the idiots in the Legislature tried to pass a tax on all manner of services until cooler heads prevailed. I don't know if that included pole dancing, but I'm sure they appointed some kind of fact-finding committee to tour local topless bars and study the situation first hand, since after all that's what we pay our legislators for...
