IN CASE YOU'VE BEEN LIVING UNDER A ROCK
Please see a counselor.
Also, you should know that this weekend is the Miami Book Fair, where the world famous Rock Bottom Remainders will be performing surgery sexually (well, we aren't sure what it is, but it certainly isn't music) publicly at 5 pm (or possibly 5:30; how would we know?) on Saturday, as well as (of course) at the Voices for Children event tonight.

Time for me to flap away for awhile; Mr. Ducky's been working hard replacing our fence and is in need of sustenance. See y'all later! Good luck w/the crickets, cg!

thanks. so far so good.
Posted by: crossgirl | November 18, 2006 at 09:06 PM
CG I'd try the crickets with a little chocolate. Watch the legs don't get stuck in your teeth.
(just kidding CG. I once put a tomato worm back on the tomatoes because I couldn't harm it. I know, certifiable)

Jazzzz...
You just lost Fear Factor. You're supposed to eat the worm. Extra protein, dude.
Please don't tell me you hug trees. I just can't take it when

Da-da-da-da-da--dah!!
Wyo-Major hugs.
Also, she is going to be very sore in the am. Advice: Advil, ice packs and a million silent blessings.
CH & Sio--Woooo Hooooo! Dave Barry, Rock Bands and low flow toilets all in one night. I don't know how you stand it!
Sio--Thank you so much for getting the booked signed. I am giddy happy! *snoopy dance*

Wyo - glad to hear she's ok. I did the same when I was in college - drunk driver on the wrong side of the road. I ditched a sports car and flipped it back over front. I was fine until a good samaritan caught my chin in the zipper of my parka. Anyway, 2 things -
1.watch for mild concussions - the brain swells at night - check on her at night if you can.
2.git her back on the horse, asap
I swore by my Dodge pick-up, and swore at my ex's Ford. I've heard God drives a Dodge (can't spell 'Dodge' without him).

well i met estrogen centrale and cjrun, and of course saw siouxie again ;) didn't meet anyone else unfortunately, and i suspect a few others were there. anyway it was a great fun show (imho) and we had a lot of fun. wish you all could have been there.

Back from the fray. Many pictures to process and I will try a different uploading site, but for now, this awful link is a book I picked up for AWBH.
EC freaked out, but I feel certain that common first names will make for a bit of kismet! Enjoy, while my worn out self catches up with the blog haps!

Wyo, what's the update on the Wyoette?
Posted by: Just Ducky | November 18, 2006 at 11:50 PM
Best to the cowgal. Been on the road since before dawn and want to catch Hiassen in the morning, then James W. Hall, before I check out. Look forward to Annie's squeal of glee, but I'll have to check back for it, after a long nap. Niters!
Posted by: CJrun | November 18, 2006 at 11:51 PM
btw, thanks again to Annie, Cheryl et al. for your well wishes. Pretty spooky, now that it's all over.
Posted by: Wyo Cowboy | November 18, 2006 at 11:53 PM
Ducky, Wyoette is happy with percocet. (how is that supposed to be spelled?)
Posted by: Wyo Cowboy | November 18, 2006 at 11:54 PM
I spell it "the good drugs." ;)
Posted by: Just Ducky | November 18, 2006 at 11:56 PM

Wyo - usually the soreness hits 2 days later...like after a big game...or meeting Ann Colder.
Now excuse me - I have to go tp a few Republican houses. Since it's Saturday night, we're using two-ply.
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | November 19, 2006 at 12:03 AM
Annie, I've heard the soreness is from some acid in the tissue? is that close?
and as you know, I'm votin' for Ann for president. Think she'd look great on a $10 bill.
but that don't mean we can't be bloggin' buddies.

HEY all!! just a quickie for now! I'm worn out!!!!
Had a GREAT time today meeting CJ & EC...seeing judi again...front row seats to the RBRs show!!! what a day!
I will have plenty of pics up sometime tomorrow for all to enjoy and (if they come out) a couple of video clips from the show.
Wyo - I am so glad that Sarah was not hurt. My thoughts are with you and Diane.
Annie - I wasn't in ANY WAY involved in CJ's book choice (I did LMAO though).
Posted by: Siouxie | November 19, 2006 at 12:22 AM
OH btw...Punkin...I did NOT have to throw my undies at the band. They had the large brassiere out for all to see and EC and I tried it on...yes I have a photo.
crossgirl - CJ was a HOOT!!
Posted by: Siouxie | November 19, 2006 at 12:27 AM
Goodnight all! I'll have more tomorrow!!
Posted by: Siouxie | November 19, 2006 at 12:28 AM
Wyo - yes - lactic acid - common when you work muscles in ways they're not used to. Like when Ann Colder ties her shoes. Ba-dum!
Posted by: Annie Where-but-here | November 19, 2006 at 01:44 AM
Wow, Wyo, that is so amazing that she is unhurt. All kinds of good wishes for sustained good health, and freedom from pain and nightmares to her and you and the Mrs.

quadruple hrmphs for siouxies front row seats. anyone wanna sign up now to watch my kids so i can make it to the next show?
Posted by: crossgirl | November 19, 2006 at 08:22 AM
I want to see the pictures, too! Missed the show as well. Major bummer.....
Posted by: jaynebird | November 19, 2006 at 10:45 AM
Meditrina... I'm certainly no "tree hugger", I just don't personally hunt, etc...I have NOTHING against it. I understand certain animals need to be harvested, and most people eat what they kill....no problem. Ms Jazzzz even has a beautiful FUR coat. yes, from real animals. As for the tomato worm, I just figured it needed to eat too, and we had plenty.
Posted by: jazzzz | November 19, 2006 at 11:32 AM
Oh, and to even things out a little....I love all AC books
Posted by: jazzzz | November 19, 2006 at 11:39 AM
Jazzz... Just jokin'. Yay for Ms. Jazzz... I am down with the beautiful fur coat, from real animals, although my daughter would be appalled.
I sometimes wonder if I got the wrong kid at the hospital, she is such a critter-lover. I get in trouble for smooshing the spiders. She is a catch and release kinda girl. And we aren't hunters either, but I've got a bunch of relatives in Oklahoma....... well, we'll save that for a different thread (one w/ Jeff Foxworthy involved).

Temporary not so funny but serious alert.
When my dad was about six, and livin' in Jackson, he came across a rag-horn bull elk hung up in a barbed wire fence. Two coyotes were tearing at his belly, he was still alive. Dad always told us about seein' that, and pointing out that when in the wild, most animals die of sickness, starvation or fall to violent predators. "A bullet in the head," he'd say, "is the kindest death an animal can see."
Some will say that man's fence played a role, and indeed it did, but: 1) isn't man part of nature? and 2) if it wasn't a fence, the coyotes would have chased him into some other "natural" trap.
While it's not a pretty sight, it is what is. Nature is not like in the pictures and zoos, it is violent and yet amazingly beautiful, and needs to be preserved, understood with honesty, and respected for what it is.

so if bambi's mother hadn't been shot, she would have been eaten by coyotes? poor bambi!
looks like some people are too busy engaging in real lives to post anything for us. *sigh* goes back to looking at cj's pic since no one has given us anything else to comment on.
Posted by: crossgirl | November 19, 2006 at 12:10 PM
Meditrina, tomatoe worms scare the hell out of me. I had one attack my boots once. I was wearing them at the time. I nearly fainted. Darned things have one hell of a grip.
Like you, I'd wear a fur coat without reservation. I boycott styrofoam cups however.
I live in a community with a high number of vegetarians. They all have leather shoes and designer handbags. I've never figured that one out.

Hows the wyoette?
Posted by: Cheryl Howard | November 19, 2006 at 12:19 PM
the "Wyoette" lives about 8 hours south of me, and I've not spoken to her since last evening. I suspect she's sleepin' it off, which is the best thing for it, if there aren't any nightmares.

Siouxie - are you up yet? Geez - we're waiting over here!! Thanks for the book - can't wait! Be in touch about payment, etc.
Wyo - Whew! God is certainly watching over Sarah. Keep us updated, OK? She's gonna be hurtin, for sure.
CJrun - thanks for being FIRST with the photo. That definitely counts for something.
My breath couldn't be any more baited . . .
Posted by: ubetcha | November 19, 2006 at 12:26 PM
Wyo, having been in a knarly accident (I was hit head on by a drunk driver a long time ago) I think the scariest part is:
1) Seeing your car in the light of day afterwards.
2) Driving again. It takes awhile and I think its really easy to be very sensitive to how others are driving around you.
I am very relieved for the entire wyo family that she is safe and sound.
Posted by: Cheryl Howard | November 19, 2006 at 12:27 PM
Siouxie - sorry. It's after noon so I'll have a Cape Codder in lieu of the gumball.
There, that's better.
Posted by: ubetcha | November 19, 2006 at 12:28 PM
Well, at least Ann's nice to look at.
Venison's ready, and you're gonna like it, as it came off my uncle's alfalfa field. Tender and not gamey.
*Wanders off to Ann Coulter's site to see if there are any new pix posted.*

Sigh.
Posted by: Just Ducky | November 19, 2006 at 12:33 PM
Wyo - fence or no fence, coyotes have to eat too. It's the balance of nature. We've been around as long as all those animals and if your Dad had gotten to that elk first, would that have been any worse? Somebody's gotta eat it.
Save some of that venison for me (hopefully the liver - yum!).
Posted by: ubetcha | November 19, 2006 at 12:40 PM
sounds like a People Eating Tasty Animals convention in here.
Posted by: Wyo Cowboy | November 19, 2006 at 12:44 PM
Wyo - btw, I'll add a picture. How??
Posted by: ubetcha | November 19, 2006 at 12:46 PM
I thought that's what animals are for. I wouldn't eat my dog or cat, or the parakeets my mother raised, but anything else is fair game (no pun intended). People don't realize how hard hunting is. They go to the grocery store and buy cows and lambs and chickens. If you've ever sat in a tree stand at 4 am waiting for deer in the "wilds" of CT you'd know they're all pointing at laughing at you. They smell us coming. I have a great deal of respect for anyone who can actually go hunting and get something to eat. It just ain't easy.
Nuf said.
