hmmm while I've never heard of the guy before I'm not surprised as even my grandmother could become a hot trend in Japan, if she wanted too that is.

yikes! Please Note I did NOT mean to say my grandmother was hot!!!

Snarky comments are tripping over each other in my mind, so none of them are making it to this post.

So much to say.....brain froze.

At first, I thought it was a "Variety" headline concerning the box office gross for "Brokeback Mountain."

Great photo caption:

Sigh.... the Japanese really need a good Fear Factor. But since they already eat most of the more unappetizing items featured on that show, I guess they really have run out of quality entertainment.

The Japanese School Teacher guy wrote about Hard Gay too.
Posted by: Trillian | January 02, 2006 at 12:55 PM
yes, I suggest the Japanese do a show where they immobilize celebrities glue a pork chop to them, and have a starving Komodo dragon turned loose on them! Readers of this blog could supply a couple dozen names easily.
I would also glue the pork chop to their crotch.

Bottoms up, Hard Gay!

Pork Chop Crotch ROTFLMAO!!!!

Technically, that's the last Headline of 2005, given that the article was posted on Dec 30 last year. Still, they made no attempt at a subtle headline, so they've got to be congratulated for that.

What disturbs me is that my 14 year old daughter is fascinated with all things Japan. Of course, I don't think she's found out about this guy. Whew!
Posted by: Noob | January 02, 2006 at 02:09 PM
Noob:
I think you mean she hasn't found out yet...
It's worth noting that there's also a nifty headline for another story on that page: "Porn actor Chocoball Mukai to bite into world of professional wrestling."
Posted by: will | January 02, 2006 at 02:26 PM
Koob - I'll bet what your daughter is really fascinated by is cartoons of angry looking Japanese people.

Hard Gay WBAGNFAB!
Posted by: grumbleghoul | January 02, 2006 at 06:11 PM
It would feature the talents of Boy George, George Michael, and Mr. Halford from Judas priest.

The left side frame at that site has another "top headline" contender, it seems to me...
"Pandas play their way into Year of the Dog"
I think someone has a serious species-confusion issue!
I wonder if a moose-anatomy class would be of any help?

good stuff

According to my understanding of the article, it's estimated that he's made about 30 million yen in the second half of the year.
The currency converter translates this as approximately $254,000 ...
I'd think that much would put a bulge in anyone's wallet ...

Whooo!!
*everyone stops and stares*
*backs away slowly, fades into background*

Fed, come back! We want to watch some more!
Posted by: southerngirl | January 03, 2006 at 10:39 AM
Will, thanks. I appreciate knowing that some day sooner than I think, she will find out...
pogo, yes, she loves Anime/manga. She can draw in that style quite well, too. But she is also taking Japanese as her foreign language in high school and wants a kimono for her birthday. If it's Japanese, she is willing to at least give it the benefit of the doubt, then make up her mind.
Why does that scare me?
Posted by: Noob | January 03, 2006 at 02:29 PM
Trillian: I love that editorial though I am woefully behind on it. I completely missed this one. Thanks for the link.

I live in Japan and love this stuff. The Japanese who make the mediocre and weird into heros and the native English copy writer who gets to make these headlines up and no one knows what they mean or will challenge them. They're little coded messages we gaijin send to each other in the land of no irony.
