DC UPDATE
Thanks to the blogsters who came out to the signing tonight, some of whom are pictured in the exclusive CrapCam photo below. (I'm hoping they'll identify themselves in the comments.) I'm the one who appears not to have had any sleep for several consecutive months. The woman in front wearing the flowered blouse -- Rita, I believe -- brought me a very nice woolen thong that she knitted. It is roughly the size of a pup tent, and it says "DC BLOGLITS SUPPORT DAVE IN 2008." I shall cherish it always, from a safe distance.

... and then Officer Obie looked a the Judge ... and then he looked at the seein'-eye dog ... and he just knew, that the Judge wasn't gonna look at the 27 8x10 color glossy pictures, with circles and arrows, and a paragraph on the back of each one, explainin' what each one was, to be used as evidence against us ... and it was a typical case of American Blind Justice ...

Sigh - we knew Dave was gonna be in the area, but with a new baby & a 5-year-old (who needs to be in bed on time for Kindergarten), attending was impossible for us . . . maybe next time his Daveness hits the DC area.

I was so glad to finally get to meet His Daveness! Of course I just said inane things like "We're your biggest fans." DUH. Instead of "Your column was the main reason I used to buy the Washington Post on Sundays," or "Did you know that two people who met at your booksigning are getting married?" Something non-inane.
I *DID* think of a funny response to Dave's story about getting the sewage treatment plant named after him...I wanted to remark, "At least it wasn't Sewage Plant Number Two." Ba-dum-bum-CHHHH....
Sorry I missed you, elle! I missed dinner with the gang, myself...due to not coordiating with anyone...

If anyone's interested, the thong pattern is here. Dave's is black, and it is cotton and lycra, not wool. (Kibby, I hope I didn't offend you with the size of your thong; I used a larger needle this time so I wouldn't ruin my fingers, and it turned out a little, well, larger. My sincere apologies.) By the way, this pattern comes *snork* in Large, Extra Large, and Fetch the Smelling Salts. Guess which this one was.
I bought the blouse in Todos Santos, Baja Sur, Mexico ("my family make it here"), so who knows where it comes from. Probably China.
It was so good to see the DC Bloglits! And His Daveness, of course.
