"A recent TV series, "Densha Otoko," about a lovelorn geek who finds true love after a saving a woman from a drunk on a train, proved extremely popular."
isn't "lovelorn geek" redundant?

Other sub-categories include those obsessed with the Internet and "proselytising geeks," who try to get others to join them in their obsession.
Is the Dave Barry Otaku Force working on absorbing others into its mighty ranks?

The depths of the world of geeks remain largely unplumbed.

This is actually a fairly common story type in Japan. The next step up would be a "harem" story, in which the geek wins the attention of MORE THAN ONE girl.
Gotta love those otaku.

even tho I've checked this thread (and read the lead story/link) a few times, I still (even yet today, after only my jumpstart cup of coffee - 100 percent Hawaiian, if it matters) read that title as "Proselytizing GReeks" ... go figure ... I can't ...
