LONDON UPDATE
Last night we went to see the musical production of "Mary Poppins," which is quite different from the movie, and astonishingly good. If this show gets to New York, it will be huge, one of those shows that run forever.
The theater had been closed the night before because of the bombings, but last night the house was full. We stood for a minute of silence in honor of the bombing victims, and then the show, as shows must, went on.
The show goes on everywhere here: The underground is running again, and people are resuming their lives. I remain awed by how calmly Londoners have handled the terrorist attack. I believe that one reason for this is that the British TV news people have displayed less excitability and hysteria than American TV news people displayed in response to the Michael Jackson verdict. That's not an exaggeration: That's really how it appears.

Alanboss.. make sure all sites you link to start with http:// not just www. or this blog inserts the weblog address where you would usually have the http:// - it's a mistake pretty much every linker has made at least once.
Alan's link
also .. The first Troubie-related link that Google spat out
It looks like a lot of fun, Alan.. it's a pity I'm in another country,

El, yes she was good in Jerry Maguire. In fact, she is usually good. I never denied that.
I just said I (me, personally, no one else) have had trouble warming up to her.
That is all.
was "OK" but a little too sappy for my taste. Actually, Bonnie Hunt & Jim Belushi (about the most appealing I've ever found him - NTTAWWT) were the best things in it.

What about Carroll O'Conner and Robert Loggia and the other two guys? They were hilarious. And Mel was such a sweet doggy. When I first saw the shot of him standing by the door it made me cry. And, again, David Duchovny's hot. Not that you'd appreciate that aspect Jeff. NTTAWWT if you did. :-) I wasn't a big fan of Only You. Bonnie Hunt and Robert Downey Jr. were great in it, but I found Marisa Tomei extremely annoying in that movie, which is weird, because I loved her in Someone Like You with Hugh Jackman. She was hysterical in that.

Tomei was also great in My Cousin Vinny for which she won an Oscar and then didn't get a job for the longest time!
And I now remember "only You"! I knew I had seen Hunt in other movies, but there she may have been overshadowed by one of t he best
actors on the planet, IMO!
Robert: Why, oh why, oh why did you dump Ally? How could you have? and don't say it was because you had to go to jail *snork* - she would have waited for you *sigh*

Yes Bumble, Robert Loggia has been a favorite of mine forever - by that, I mean since The Nine Lives of Elfago Baca aired on The Wonderful World of Disney in 1958!
Geezer bus now boarding at gate 9!
As for Marisa, here are a variety of quotes from My Cousin Vinny.

Jeff: Amen to the dolts reporting "from the eye of the storm" Our favorite memory from one of last year's evacuations was the reporter blathering about the conditions on the beach he was at and said, "Things here are getting EXTREMELY serious." At that exact moment two goobers with no shirts and swilling from Mai Tais started dancing right behind him on camera. Not a dry eye was found in the house that we stayed at.

Jeff, did you see Robert Loggia w/ Tom Hanks in "Big?"
Posted by: Bumble | July 10, 2005 at 09:52 AM
And El, have you seen Robert Downey Jr. in "Heart and Souls?" It was a little bit on the cheesy side, but funny.

Jeff... great quotes!! I have the video of My Cousin Vinny, but I haven't sat down and watched it in a while.
For some reason (perhaps because half of Hollywood was in it..) I thought RDJ was in And The Band Played On. If you haven't seen this, you should. It's about the discovery of the AIDS/HIV virus and all the scientific and political infighting over the consequences of alerting the public. The cast is stellar and the movie is an emotional rollercoaster... I'm always in tears by the end of it.

Thanks for the help Kafaleni. See, that's what happens when I try to do fancy tech stuff at the end of a long day!
I don't know what country you are in, but they have been known to go off to places like New Zealand and Australia.
