I've always thought those giant squid were pretty washed-up, anyway. What're they good for?

The squirrels did it!!

Looks like a case of Squid Pro Quo.

There's something fishy about all that. It's just like the reverse behavior of lemmings.

Good call, Lou. I would knock around some Latin with you, but all that's coming to me is, "Squid novi ex Africa?"...which doesn't really make sense, unless you're verifying at the fish market exactly where today's squid is from.

CALIFORNIA - Scientists remain deeply puzzled over why giant squids would be consuming large amounts of parasite riddled sand.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated story, the Society for Senseless Cruelty to Sea Creatures Via Bad Pop Music continues its study of how marine life reacts to 24 Hour Cher Radio.

you used bad pop music and Cher in the same sentence! (big noogie for you)

Once again we must remind you, in the strongest possible terms, NOT to order calamari at your favorite seafood restaurant today!

Doug, you almost stretched the blog.

You break the blog, you pay for it.

Not sure if anyone's still reading this thread, but here goes.
To the tune of "Mack the Knife".

Jumbo squid babe, on the shore dear
And their tentacles, pearly white
Just a jackknife and a parasite, babe
And he keeps them out of site

When that shark bites with his teeth babe
Humboldt bellows start to spread.
From Dana Point to San Clemente
More than a thousand squid - they’re dead.

Linda Blachard, lab director
It’s her job to speculate
Yes that line forms on the right babe
Now that the squid are back in town.
Look out those Humboldt is back!

MOTW - I just checked back in and enjoyed the song very much - I could hear Bobby Darin - or Kevin Spacey as the case may be!

How do you write a story about giant squids washing up and NOT include a photo?

Reminds me of why I didn't like to shower on the boat... Like the California squid, I prefer to wash up on shore.

We've overlooked the obvious: "..the squid are coming north from Mexico..."
Dude, you cannot even swim in the OCEAN WATER down there!!! These things were probably jet-propelled with Montezuma's Revenge all the way from Baja!!

Guess who just got back today?
Those wild-eyed squid that had been away
Haven’t changed, haven’t much to say
But man, I still think they are crazy.

They were asking if you were around
How you was and where you could be found
They lay on the beach like they were drowned
The parasites had driven them crazy

The squid are back in town, the squid are back in town!

... more than a 100 squid ...

More of these "professional word persons" who can't spell and won't be bothered with proper usage ...

It's always Squidalot on this blog.
