WE DON'T THINK THIS IS AT ALL WEIRD

Wanna touch our Eve 6 towel?

(Thanks to Heather Jackson)

Comments

Oh, does this mean we get to flash Jeff like we did Josh when he was "banned from the blog"?

(@)(@)

Now there are two live mousies in the trap. The web site Rocky has been reading says they can live in there for several days and once you get one, his friends will come in and join him. You can get dozens in one trap. They are really cute and I feel sorry for them. This is not fun...

Sandy, didn't they teach us how you northern latitude folks deal with mice in "Never Cry Wolf"? or was that "Dances With Wolves."

*smooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooch*
hey Jeff
no wonder... we miss u.
here...have a dragon underwear. maybe that would stop all the bad luck

Sandy, if they are wearing bow ties, they are probably Pixie and Dixie.

Deon...what Tamara said
except the hotmail part

Deon--I do know a couple falconers with hawks living in their back yards. That is not a bad idea. I would rather feed an animal than have Rocky drown the things.

*double Zips in*

New computer and new silent keyboard! Window XP, etc. what an ordeal - at the very moment that tech guy went to internet on new puter Cox cut off my high speed - turned out it was only a 7 day trial version - who knew! Anyway, it's OK now!

Would someone pleas send me an e-mail so I can see if it's working - thanks

I'm listening to Susan's radio station, but all my CD's (my own) that I downloaded into my old computer and transferred here will not play! Something about no license! But I own them ?!?!?!?

But the music that I downloaded - free - from the internet does play -?????? WTF?

I have to re-register everywhere, which I just did a week ago with my new e-mail addy - progress is tough!

Bon jour Marie!

Sandy..maybe u could let them go far far away?
like the naighbour's house? :D

El..is tech guy good lookin?

El, for the most part you should be able to get your music to play, you just need to:
a) transfer the license from your old computer to new one OR
b) depending on what media player you use, you should have an option to download a license. Normally free, I believe. And I think it's only 1 license per album (though that could still be a pain if you have a bunch)

Sly- Yes. And unfortunately, I think I have been banned as well.

Course today, I could be wrong. Better go ahead and flash anyway, just to be on the safe side. ;)

[Good side note: I just had a contractor finally come and finish laying carpet in the hall way and walk-in hall closets this morning. We had him put down carpet in the three bedrooms about 6 months ago. I didn't want him to do the hall way because I had to completely gut the bathroom and I didn't want to ruin the new carpet by dragging crap in and out of the bathroom. Well, because of the baby, my work has been a little slower than I had anticipated. But I finally finished enough with the bathroom to have the carpet laid now. I called this guy and had set up two previous NO SHOW appointments by him. I was getting a little miffed, but more so scared because like an idiot I paid the guy in full, up front 6 months ago. (I know) Luckily he was an honest contractor. So, I guess all I am really trying to say is THANK YOU MR.CARPETLAYERMAN! You have no idea how much stress that just relieved!

This calls for the good stuff.

*Taps a new Keg of Guiness*

Oh yeah! That's what I'm talkin bout.

So, time for calendars again, eh?

I say one is good with multiple pics as well. I don't know that I like my ugly mug being the only one up there, for an entire month. Actually that's not so true, I really just love to share.

*passes out pints of Healthy Brew*

whr's everybody? i know for a fact it's a weekday in the US. thr should be more bloggers blogging MORE FREQUENTLY

*arranges moat according to Feng Shui*
*paints dragons on everyone's undies*

Deon, you have quite a memory.

Oh, look. I have a dragon painted on my undies. Good thing I wore clean ones today, huh?

hello?
*echo echo echo*

Watch out, Bangi, you may find there are already some dragons in...er, on certain MOATie's undies.

*flashes Jeff*
*and Mr Fishair for good measure*

( @ )( @ )

*catching breathe*

Finally caught up from the Last MOAT....

((((Josh)))))
*lovin' Josh umm... whatever he wants loved* ;)

Sandy - I snork every time I hear your dogs name. ... heh...

Sly - I know you were trying to be nice and give Tamara the yummy Scot, but why ask if he has a single father nearby... why not just go for him !!! after all, you've got something going for you Tamara doesn't - LOCATION! ;)

*sending warm thoughts and hugs to all others as she forgot the rest of what she was going to comment on... stoopid werk*

*going back to catch up on this MOAT*

oooohhhh simulpost with Susan
kinky...

*pauses while artistically painting marvin's dragon*
u dont say...
*takes extra time to get the dragon just rite*

and talking of Just...dont go

Did I dream or did we have a foursome (sp?) simulpost Susan, Bangi, Marvin and I?
How many points can we add to our Kinky Score?

Sly! I forgot about Scottish Guy! Did you give him my photo? My phone number? A plane ticket to Georgia??? I promise I'll share him; I just need him for a leeetle while...

Bonjour Marie!
guess what Peri taught me to say in French
"voudriez vous etre mon singe g-tache?"
well..i think that's what it was.

How's life in France?

Sly, don't listen to Tamara... she's already shown signs of severe frustration... leeetle while means at least a week with no exposure to daylight.

Marie, you and I and Bangi and Marvin did have a quad-post. (would that be what it's called?) I thought I felt a little, breathless, or something.

Bonsoir Bangi!
Hahaha I'm not surprised Peri taught you that, except that g-tache means "g-stain" (ewwwww), the translation of g-spot is "point G".

So did you ask this in French to Shoeab???

Life is fine in France and Switzerland (I was there last week-end to visit my parents) the weather just went from freezing to being very warm and sunny! Too bad I'm stuck in an office all-day and can't enjoy it :-(

Do you still have a lot of exams?

*sneaks up behind Di with a rope, holding the closet door open with one foot...*

Bangi, so good to see you. You owe me a note? Kewl! Oh, and I posted an ink drake on the Y in the hobbies folder if you wanted inspiration.

Sandy, if you read the Farley Mowat book or saw the movie, the mice got eaten, alright. *crunch crunch*

Just, take this [hands igloo's Evelyn Woods book to Just]. Hows that baby percolating?

[winks at Leetie]

So what's everyone reading these days?

quadrasimulpost with three wonderful ladies, and now Tamara is going to tie Di up in the closet? Ah, it's a fine Tuesday in my book. Dang, and I've only been up for 25 hours. The week is young yet!

ACK! Deon is shunning me!

*sees Tamara's shadow*

*grabs Tamara and gives her a noogie*

*spins her around to try and get her into the closet, but doesnt take into account that Tamara just ate PB crackers for lunch*

EWH

Deon..I just got done with Shadow of the Giant by Orson Scott Card...have I mentioned he's one of the best writers I've read?

Now starting on H2G2 in preparation for the movie release...woohoo!!!

Deon, that picture looks familiar. Have you posted it previously, or am I just still going insane, still, insanely still, till, distilled insanely?

owe u a note? u havent been EATING those mandrakes things have u?
*borrows Tamara's rope and performs an ancient ritual to cure Deon*
*whispers ' i saw this in Playboy' to the rest of the moat*
*leaves Deon to the mercy of the blog*

Marie, considering what u just said...im glad i didnt say anything to Shoeab. that Peri...
no more exams.( yeah!). except, i cant seem to get out of that 'oh my god i think im out of time' feeling. i still get anxiety attacks. for no good reason.

what do u do at the office?
P.S are French men as sexy as we fantasize they r?

To find out what book I just finished (and I know at least one of you, including me, is on the edge of his and her respective seats), search this page for Don't Panic. It was interesting, funny, informative, and helpful in my sleepfast.
You all might want to move a little further back in your seats now.

No, Joshkr, you didn't. He is on my list of decent writers, though.

And may I say, it is irksome that someone uses the name Josh on the main board. No crime in that, but since I read you faithfully I get tricked by the name.

And did you see that Josh took a shot at Judi on the main blog? Judi replied and he defended, then went properly humble and apologetic. All resolved. Nothing to see here folks, move on.

Deon... finishing Michael Moore "Dude Where's My Country" then will start Jeffrey Eugenides "The Virgin Suicides" (I loved the movie and "Middlesex" by same author) then Dave's Complete Guide to Guys which I received from Amazon yesterday (so looking forward to it!)

Bangi - no, tech guy is NOT good looking, and he is older (gray hair) and he kept calling me "dear" and touching my hand and I also noticed he was glancing at my ramparts! But I have a new computer, so...I guess it's just the price women have to pay to get anything done!

Marvin - thanks for the info, but I have soooo many CS's that it would just be easier to reload them while I'm working at the computer!

Deon, I'm on the English version of Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina.. I've read a Polish translation of it, and loved it, but the English one is a bit different so its keeping me on my toes.

Oooh, Bangi; I like the way you think! *pokes and prods at Deon*

abt that Josh...yes it's annoying.
i know our Josh has a kr. but still.

Somebody named Josh took a shot at Judi?????

*readying hacking programs*

. 0 (Di reads Tolstoy in Polish?!?!)

[shrinks into the shadows of the non-cosmopolitan ranks]

Tamara, I know how much you love the way Scottish men talk so I found this for you.

What? A little disappointing? Yeah, I agree. But I thought this one was kind of funny.

Bangi: French men are quite sexy, but personnaly I fantasize over Italian men... Guess "foreign" is always sexier to someone ;-)
My job is not very exciting: I customize their HR and payroll software for different clients.
I hope you'll be able to relax now that exams are over! I'm so glad I don't have the stress of exams anymore... that's the good thing about work!

RE: BOOKS

I'm still working on my 5 or 6 books at once...kinda...

The good ones among those:

"Unequal Childhoods: Class, Race, & Family Life" by Annette Lareau (if anyone wants to read & discuss, it would give me DORKGASMS*!)

and

"A Prayer for Owen Meany" by John Irving

*DORKGASMS is MY word; if you use it, you have to give me FULL CREDIT!

Marie...what about nerdy Americans? No fantasies about us???

Di... how do u ask
" would u like to be my g-spot monkey?" in Polish?

*hands Tamara a mandrake*
*paints Dragons all over Deon*

Di... how do u ask
" would u like to be my g-spot monkey?" in Polish?

*hands Tamara a mandrake*
*paints Dragons all over Deon*

Book-wise, just finished Nightfall by Demille and recommend it.

Just cracked open something by Norah Roberts; but can't remember the name of it.

*gets really excited, watching Bangi paint Deon*

Hey, Bangi, did you notice? This mandrake looks just like Deon!!

Bangi! Bangi! Can *I* paint...um...that part?! PLLEEEASE?!

Joshkr... I don't know, I've never met any nerdy Americans! But I'm sure they're sexier than nerdy French ;-)...

dorkgasms...hehehe
El...eww! glad ur pc is ok tho.
Marie, i guess that's God's way of preventing us from being constantly turned on. not that thr's anything wrong with that...i hope.

*swings to bed on the Tarzan Express Rope*
g nite moaties.

Deon - Of course I read Tolstoy in Polish... short of reading him in Russian, what better way to read him?

Bangi - "Czy chcesz byc malpal mojej G-kropki?"

Don't go twisting your tongue trying to say that... I accept zero responsibility for any medical bills that may come forth due to bitten off tongues, or sprained jaws.

butt of course Tamara :D

I just finished:

The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty
by Anne Rice writing as A. N. Roquelaure
Book One: The Erotic Adventures of Sleeping
Beauty

whoa. Serious PrOn.

Just recently into the book Jeff sent, Gold Coast by Nelson DeMille. Loving it.

And three Dale Carnegie books I'm having to read for class.
How to Win Friends and Influence People
How to Stop Worrying and Start Living
The Quick and Easy Way to Effective Speaking

Plus a National Geographic book about Ireland. Can't think of the title and author. Good Book though. Maps, History, Places to visit, eat, sight see, etc.

*pours another pint*

Everyone got their Green picked out for Thursday?

Cuz you know I'm gonna be a pinchin. ;)

Mr. Fishair...LOL I was just telling someone to read Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty books to "study" serious perviness.

Hi guys, I'm back for now at least. I don't know what is going on, but Judi thinks it might have something to do with my IP address being blocked as it's the same as spammers. But then why does it work some of the time -- like now -- and not others? And what the heck IS my IP address and how do I find it?

My head hurts. I need a drink, but I can't on this diet.

Anyway, as long as I'm here let me say thanks to Sandy for her help and advice & Eleanor and neo. Rita is so far behind she didn't know about our meeting with Judi & DJTony in Miami but now that she does she's going to try and meet up with them too when she's in Florida in a couple of weeks. Julietine, if you're here, you should e-mail rita and get in on the meeting.

I spent a lot of the day doing my 4 page 'zine for my mystery group (6 times a year), printing it and sendingit off (the deadline is Saturday). It wasn't too mystery-related, mostly being an account of the road trip, but we've all been together so long it's more a friend's group than just a mystery one.

Speaking of mysteries, I think I mentioned that we'll be in Chicago September 1-4 for the biggest mystery convention, the Bouchercon.

We'll also be doing the following:

April 20 fly to Las Vegas (stay at Bally's - $69)
April 21 drive to Surprise, AZ (where my parents
live and stay nearby for 4 days
April 25 move to Springhill Suites nearby for 3
more days
April 28 drive to Williams, AZ; stay the night
April 29 take 2 1/2 hour train ride to Grand
Canyon; take 3 hour tour; stay the night
April 30 take train back to Williams; stay night
May 1 drive to Vegas, stay 2 nights at Bally's
($59!)
May 3 fly home

My sister & her husband & son who live in Phoenix will probably be on the Grand Canyon jaunt too.

THANK YOU, BANGI!! You are SUCH a dear!!

I will NOT be wearing green on Thursday. I have a class that night, and I DO want to be pinched.

*Starts painting Deon's neck, hoping he is ticklish*

*Unties Deon's hands in case he wants to practice pinching*

Just recently finished St. Dale by Sharyn McCrumb. I wouldn't think I would like a book that is about a group of Dale Earnhart fans on a tour of racetracks, but, even not being a NASAR fan myself, I really enjoyed it. And it was cool reading about the tracks in my area...The Rock in Rockingham, NC, the Track Too Tough To Tame, the Lady in Black, in Darlington, SC...the Charlotte Motorspeedway (now Lowe's Motorspeedway) in Charlotte, NC.

*hiding all the female bloglits green clothing so Mr.Fishair (and the other male bloglits) will have to do some pinching*

*hiding all the male bloglits green clothing so the female bloglits can do some pinching*

*hides all green clothing so everyone can get pinched*

Jeff, I was going to recommend the Proxy link on the Y if you continue to have posting problems.

And, if you have a direct Internet connection, and you can get to the "C:>" prompt

(mouse over to Start, up to Run, Open: and type CMD and OK key. Window will open up with C:...>)

type ipconfig /all and your IP number will be shown.

i.e.: IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.162.209.187

/geek speak

And that would be NASCar fan. Never heard of NASAR.

(stupid sticking C key. CCCCCCCCCCC)

*warning, tongue-in-cheek ethnic disparaging follows. Please skip unless you "get" sarcasm and playful trash-talking*

Wear green?

Now who would want to affilate themselves with the Irish? Those oppressed and down-trodden people?

Nosiree. My people sheared the Irish seasonally and hauled off the choicest of their damsels (well, except the 95% of my people who were merely farmers).

My ancestors would be spinning in their graves to see me trade the horned battlehelm for a dorky green bowler!

And pinching is the penalty for not yeilding to the Irish? I'll not speak of the penalty imposed by my ancestors for failure to yeild.

Nope. Not wearing green to honor the people who named a famine after food! (whats with that anyway?) I'd rather get pinched.

HEY, nobody hauled ME off! *points at red hair* *feels shunned by Deon AND his ancestors!*

Thanks to Kibby & Tamara, as well as Sandy & Joshkr. In return, here's something for you Python fans:

Spamalot.

Apparently if you want to get tickets you better send away soon as it is poised to be a smash hit.

Book? I'm in the middle of a very funny book: Ellis Weiner, Drop Dead, My Lovely. It seems Pete Ingalls is a bookstore clerk who (before the book starts) gets his on the head by a falling book. When he wakes up in the hospital he's convinced he's a hardboiled 40s-style noirish p.i., get the suit & fedora, rents an office and hires a secretary, and starts getting business. As I said it's a laugh-out-loud book.

Tamara, actually, we identified you by satellite as prime and ready for off-hauling, but the longboats had a hard time getting to your location. Would you mind letting us know when you are going to be in the viscinity of a beach?

Thanks, Deon! I feel better now. :) Hey, dja get my email? I actually wrote one!!

Who will travel with me to see "Spamalot"? Anyone? Anyone at all?? Hey! What's so bad about going with ME?! You meanies!

Deon- LMAO!! I just hope you enjoy being pinched by a 6ft. Leprechaun. (what's with those little bugers anyway?) (and Deon, you aren't exactly of the persuasion I had in mind, but I'm sure I'll drink enough that it won't matter)

Joshkr- You know what they say, Perverted minds think al.....ot about jiggly things or something.

Have you read the next one Joshkr? Is there a next one? Wait, I can't start another book right now. What am I thinking? Oh yeah Mmmmmm, Jiggly things. Huh? What? Did you say something Joshkr?

Oh sure, Tamara.

you get weeks to write back, but I get queried in mere hours!

[goes off to push "send"]

Next two are : Beauty's Punishment and Beauty's Release respectively Mr.Fishair. Not that I own them. No siree. Not me
*looks innocent and adjusts halo*

current reading : Carl Hiaasen Skinny Dip and Laurell K. Hamilton Narcissus in Chains.
Someday I'd like to read something in another language, but as I've yet to master English, chances are it won't happen soon.

*slinks back into blurkerdom*

I just noticed the birds. I can hear them for the first time in months. They are beginning to sing their spring songs.

It doesn't feel like spring. Dumb birds.

Wow I'm 2 days past a new moat. Oh well. Someone send me an email and tell me if I missed anything important.

current reading: Dual role of alpha- defensin-1 in anti-HIV-1 innate immunity. And other fun science things.
Oh and I just finished The Talisman and am starting black house although so far I don't like the writing style of black house. Of course I actually get the time to read fiction once a week. So I should finish by the end of the year.

*waves hi*
*waves bye*

Just popping in here to kill wysiwyg and let him know I finally solved that dang "Petals Around The Rose" thing from about a month ago....

I must be a freaking genius....

Is Tolstoy in Polish better than in English? And if so, why is that? My question is an honest one, as I know not one word of Polish and about 4 of Russian.

I'd like an example of a dishonest question if you don't mind, Balanchine.

Mmmm sciency things...

Ok neo, let's see here...

If a stork brings white babies and a crow brings black babies, then what brings no babies?

neo, how dishonest?

Hmmm... A dishonest question deserves a dishonest answer. What brings no babies? Snow Babies are some kind of collectible figurine, and I think they are brought Snowy Owls. Or the UPS man.

In any case, I like the dishonest question because now I'm thinking about babies. Quick, Brian B., Mr. Fisher! I need new baby pics! Just, when are you due?

How dishonest, Kibby? As dishonest as the day is short. *wonders if she has got her expressions confused again*

Current reading: Losing Nelson by Barry Unsworth, Booker Prize winner. It's a novel about a man who is obsessed with Admiral Nelson. Thinks he is Nelson half the time. I want to send this book to my mom who is a Patrick O'Brian fan. I have learned a lot about naval warfare reading this book.

I just got the new Mary Doria Russell book from audible.com to listen to on the treadmill. She is the author of The Sparrow and its sequel (forget the title) both of which I loved. This one is set in WWII. Any other Sparrow fans out there?

Just is due in May sometime, I believe.

Kaf - I am highly amused by Muskellunge U. Snapper. I once received spam from somebody named Rampaging O. Salsas

Josh - I had no idea the latest Shadow book was out. I'll have to jaunt down to Borders sometime and get it

Sly - your dentist may have treated Mark McGwire, but my dentist is Mark McGuire

(This was the only online mention of him I could find... his name is somewhere way down on the list)

The answer to my dishonest avian question is, of course, a swallow.

Balanchine--that sounds like an honest answer to me!

Wish I'd come up with it. Good one...

god...balanchine... ;)

Also, just finished reading The Curious Case of the Dog in the Night-time

*Deblurking from doing company tax*

Higgy - An award for perseverance at least!

...and I think one calendar is best with photos of everyone who has a birthday in a particular month (ponders is there a MOATie birthday in each month?) - I've had the problem of which one to put up. Chose the Women of the MOAT in the end of course, but the other one sort of hangs about with nothing to do.

...and Alex D, re that funny photo for the Macdonalds in Yass: Yass is a smallish country town about 40 minutes drive from Canberra, and I've been through there heaps of times on the way to water skiing at one of the larger dams. I've even eaten in that Macdonalds. So it took 15 seconds or so for me to see anything other than a sign for the MacDonalds at Yass. Then I got it and laughed and laughed. Odd that it didn't spring out at me immediately though - familiarity must breed contempt.

*fade back to tax data entry*

Sigh.

Balanchine, it took me a moment to remember what the dishonest avian question was, leading up to that answer. Yes, I'm a little slow tonight.

This day is going on forever.

wolfie, I'm a big Haiassen fan. Just don't know how to spell it. Skinny Dip was fun. Have you read Lucky You?

We have an expert witness in most of our cases whose name is very similar to Hiaasen. But oddly enough, whenever I sent a letter to the expert, spell check wants me to send it to Carl Hiiasseen.

Oh, and Ann Rice's Sleepy Beauty books -- would you believe we had a receptionist reading that at her desk one day?

I had NO IDEA what it was, and asked if she was reading something for her kids. SHe laughed and handed it to me, right there in front of God, the managing partner and everyone.

OH. MY. GOSH. I glanced through it, got the jist of it and told her she should be spanked for reading that at work -- but she would probably like that.

I understand that later that day, she was called in HR, and she was not seen reading ANYTHING again at her desk. I don't know if the problem was reading a book at all or THAT book.

*sigh*

I had a flyer here to do an ad. It was here all day. Apparently in the time between my leaving at 5:30, and returning just a few minutes ago, someone has come in and tidied up. Throwing away all the newspapers. And of course, the flyer. The store is, of course, less than a half mile away and still open, but still. This is annoying.

*goes back out to the store she drove past not 3 minutes ago to pick up another flyer*

News done...ads done...and no male bloglits to fool around in a dark corner with...Oh well. Typical for my day.

Oh, and on the calendars, I like the idea of one, with pictures of the birthday bloglits each month. I'm sure that among us we can cover every month.

Sandy, glad you enjoyed.

And Tamara..... oh god, oh god yes, och loss!

Oh, and Susan, glad you found your answer. Uh, question.

*zips in*

I hate my new computer - I can't sign in at the Y site - I don't remember my user ID and I had to put all those funny letters and numbers in the boxes 6 times and pick a new ID that they suggested and then they told me it wasn't available! And I just did all this a week ago when I got high speed and a new e-mail address!!

This is the third time I've had to re-register everywhere!

AAAARRRRRGH!

So I'm going to shut down and go watch tennis and then start over in the a.m. - oh, maybe I'll be "zippy" on the Y site!

And my new computer is louder than my old one and the keyboard doesn't make noise when I hit the keys!

end of rant!

*hugs to all Moaties*

I did all of this so I could be with you guys!

I know it will be worth it!

El, did you give Yahoo! an alternate email address when you signed up? The "forgot password" link lets you give that so they can send you everything.

Balanchine, thanks for the laugh! :-)

The only thing moderately interesting today...I went to a Boy Scout meeting, and one of the new kids has the EXACT SAME hyperactivity problem I do. So much, that I tried to help him and came up empty, just like I did with me. I told him to "think nothing" so he'd calm down (a blank mind works for me), but then he went into a trance (another problem I have myself), and I had to wake him up! He can't listen and sit still at the same time. Sheesh...now I know what my mom felt like taking care of me. I have a new kind of respect for her.

I seem to be losing the ability to type, I think sleep is needed. I'm heading home...have a good night!

*hugs and gropes as needed as I wander out*

Balanchine, the swallow: I like it. :) Very good answer, albeit "dishonest."

Eleanor, hang in there. It'll be worth it eventually.

My sound on my PC went out for some inexplicable reason and I had to ask the Husband to fix it. I absolutely hate having to ask him for help. He had to uninstall something; somehow, that doesn't make any sense to me, taking something out that I just paid for, but the dumb thing is working so I guess he knew what he was doing.

Alex, my #1 son is like that: can't listen and sit still. It frustrates him terribly. Not to mention how it affects his teachers and me.

Eleanor, you forgot your ID? or password? You said ID, so I went looking and found it. I don't want to post it here, J.I.C., so I'll post it on the ReMOAT.
