So, uh, does one hour of listening to Laura Pausini in Italian count as "studying"? I mean, like, technically?
Because if it does, I did a lot of studying earlier.

Tippecanoe's awfully inquisitive today...
Posted by: djtonyb | April 04, 2006 at 02:48 PM
wolfie, why not that string method from overseas??
*too lazy to look it up right now*
A specialist (aka: a tiny woman who just happens to be in a really bad mood) uses a piece of thread to pluck each hair individually.
Is it called threading perhaps? Or maybe just torture?
Posted by: DDi | April 04, 2006 at 02:48 PM
MiK - of course it counts. I've only heard Laura sing in English, but that girl has an amazing set of pipes... I'm sure she's great singing in any language.

Tippecanoe?
*snork*
I give it an 9.2 for originality, and a 8.9 for historical significance

It's called threading. And I snapped her strings. Too many hairs, too little thread.

I can send ya lots and lots of her Italian songs if you're interested, Tony. I've been obsessed with her "best of" album for weeks now and I'd be glad to share the amore... And to really make it studying, I could translate the lyrics myself!

*boogies to "Un emergenza d'amore" while watching the Wolfie/Tippi love story unfold*
This is like "When Harry Met Sally...", right? You guys hate each other but deep, deep down you wanna smooch, right?
Posted by: Marie in Kourou | April 04, 2006 at 02:59 PM
MiK - I know she's furry, but ain't it kinda rude to call her Harry right to her face?
and I prefer Tippecanoe to Sally

Tony.. sounds like you should start with a Flowbee, cos I don't think Lady Schick can cope with all that abundance!
Honest to (whoever), who would do that to themselves? She looks like she's having her brain cells sucked out.. and yet, she's still incredibly happy about it because she's using a HAIR VACUUM WITH BLADES!!
Okay.. for the third time (and if this doesn't post I'm not doing it again...) how I got here. The short version.
Read newspaper column, read books, got internet access, found newspaper column on line (all in the 90's). A couple of years ago (hey, no one said I was quick!) I was feeling bored one night and thought "Hey, I wonder if Dave Barry has a website? That would be a good laugh!" and hence, I went looking. When I followed linkety-links to the blog, I blurked for a couple or three days just trying to figure out what everyone was doing, and then I jumped in.. and my first comment on any DB site ever was on the newly docked Moat! (Moatelle California..) and nobody tried to push me into the drink, so I stayed! Wow.. you never realise how the little things you do can change your life for the better. This truly is the path less trodden.. and it has made all the difference (yes I've been to Punky's blog recently.. she's got me waxing philosophic, which is good, cos it was getting kinda hairy down there.)
This Moat had been loading incredibly slowly for the last couple of days, but my computer has a terminal illness (no pun intended) so I thought it was only me, didn't realise it was everyone, so I've kept my mouth shut...

*breaks into song in Italian*
Yes, I'm still listening. I really should move onto another album. I have one, but I'm fixated on this one for some reason.
*hugs Kaf* And are we ever glad you got bored that day and came looking for us!

I'm here, for once... YAY!
Just in time to hear Kaf request a new MOAT.
hahaha, oh well. I'm busy. Or a drunk.

*clears throat*
May I make a suggestion?
*hears moans and groans, continues anyway*
Can we go one step up? To the "Why women are better" post?? Can we? Please? Please? Can we??
Posted by: DDi | April 04, 2006 at 03:23 PM
MOTW, thanks for the suggestion. I'd go with that, but that's not going to be the theme. I think I've come up with an idea for a logo, though, based on a design I scribbled down a few weeks back. I'm planning on making a wire and paper sculpture of it at some point. I can probably draw up something related and use that.
So, I have an image, and colors picked out. Now I just have to fill up the blank space.
Of course, then I have to fire up Paint Shop Pro and make it all happen. lol

*cough*I think it's a good theme...*cough*

Brangelina Update
After a careful investigation (Kibel, do you recruit at the moment?) I eventually found out in which street Brad and Angelina live. I intend to go there next week-end (it's a 5 mn walk) and stalk them (but I guess I'll only see the paparazzis who are camping in front of their building). Anyway, I'll keep you updated!
Small things make me happy: since Sunday I have something I had been dreaming of having since 1993 (since I have my own place): a dishwasher. Until then my kitchen was always too tiny for it. Now it's tiny but it's mine and it was in such a poor state I had it redone and found a way to include a small dishwasher. I'm happy because now I'll be able to have friends over for dinner and not wash the dishes until 2am! And I hope it will motivate me to cook a bit more!
Thank you El for organizing the basket delivery (also thank you Wolfie and Kibby). I'll miss the first half of the All Request Hour tomorrow :-(
Stoopid werk!

Yaaaay! for Marie P. We finally talked our landlord into buying dishwashers for our unit and his. They're apartment sized, about 2/3 the size of a full dishwasher, but you can pretty much fit place settings for 4 in it without a problem. I am much more likely to cook when I know there's a dishwasher, or someone else to do the dishes.
