BUTT CRACKS MAKING THE NEWS

Here's a thoughtful report from Tennessee.

I'm BACK, BI*CHES!!! :)

Manhattan was AWESOME!! I did NOT want to come back to Atlanta. Drove around Atlanta all day yesterday in search of an area comparable to NYC. Didn't find much. I hate Atlanta. I love Manhattan.

Wurm was a very good tour guide; we rode the subway, explored the amazing Frick Collection, and wandered around Central Park (he has a pic).

And Connecticut was wonderful, too! The beach! My gawd, the BEACH! (I still haven't washed the sand off the shoes I wore that day--I bought new shoes the next morning in Manhattan instead!)

And of course the BESTEST part of Connecticut was PUNKY "FREAK" BREWSTER! OMG! I am in love! She... And then we... And... Oh!... And it was... Ahhhh... Punkyyy...

*wiping tears away*

I've got lots of pics of myself & P-dawg, so will put together all the details and pics later when I have time. (IF I ever have time, as my laptop is still broken!) But Punky & I had the BEST time together, and she gives the RIB-BREAKINGEST hugs!

I stayed at the Hotel Chandler, about 2 blocks from the Empire State Building. Excellent hotel if you're staying on the lower floors (we were)--great staff.

Re-cap: Manhattan is AWESOME, and I want to have its babies. Atlanta SUCKS except for a few tiny areas here and there. Connecticut is SWEET and ADORABLE. Amtrak is FUN. Punky Brewster is a total freak and has me completely WRAPPED AROUND HER FINGER. I have a lot of WORK TO DO NOW THAT I'M BACK. Hasta, Moaties!

-The End-

getting that screenshot was my first priority this morning

A devotion to the blog that the church would envy, Trillian.

Looks like Tamara had a nice time on her vacation.

kibby just fell in love with Joshkr's desktop.....

The desktop or the woman, Kibby? ;-)

*wonders if it's illegal*

Eleanor!?

MiB, yes.... what was the question?

*realizes he's done for the day - no concentration here - nope!*

We aren't allowed to change our desktops at work. Mine is a boring blue screen with my icons. And I think they'd have a major hissy fit if I posted that, so I'll have to opt out of the work desktop portion of the festivities and just go with my home desk top.

Same here, Trillian... if my boss know that...

MiB thank you for the free unit but I must shamefully admit that... I don't really like beer *ducks*
I'm more of a Wine Girl!

knew that...
sorry for typo!

Great report Tamara! Now we want pics!

*zips in after hearing her partner seeking legal advice*

kibby, if you want to be in love with Joshkr's desktop, this is America and you can be in love with who/whatever you choose! I would advise however, that you NOT try to have sex with said computer, because then I would have to help Joshkr sue you for "damages" *snork*, if you catch my drift!!

*hee, hee, I said drift*

wow, a double, where'd that come from?

Bon Jour MarieP - so nice to see you!

Ici est un petit dejuner! Enjoy!

I think it comes from your computer having a bit too much fun with Josh's desktop, Kibby.

kibby - why am I not the least bit surprised that you can do "doubles"? Ever go for a triple?? :)

Yiddish Word of the Day

stolyer
(stohl-yer), carpenter

Naprimer:
If I were a stolyer
and you were a lady
would you marry me anyhow
would you have my baby

And-----speaking of music,
Susan, would you please play The Gambler (Kenny Rogers)?

*giggles* I'm aiding and abetting MarieP shirking her work by e-mailing her.

*giggles* I'm aiding and abetting MarieP shirking her work by e-mailing her.

Whoa! I swear I clicked on the "post" button just once!
That's my first triple ever.

Eleanor, what if I sent you a photo of said "engagement" instead?

Morning all!

Still haven't figured out how to post a desktop...well, I did, sort of. But it saved it in paint in a form that I can't put on Yahoo...so I'll have to play with it a little more. I'll have to try it here at work today.

Lt.Woman...it would take a lot to get me to play Kokomo. I mean, I could play it and live (hee hee) but then I know it would get stuck in my head and never want to leave and that is what would really really bother me. If I don't play it, that's not quite as likely to happen. But I could, maybe, one day, if you happened to be awake during my noon hour, play it. Possibly.

El, I can play The Gambler.

Steven, I remember you mentioned the idea of a road trip in your new-to-you car...still thinking of that?

Jeff, you still have me beat. Unless I've missed someone, in which case I'll be REALLY embarrassed, here is the list of bloglits I've met (9):

Higgy
elle (4x)
Blogchik (2x)
Rita (3x)
Boo (4x)
Jeff (2x)
JU
Mad
Mike

I've posted a screenshot of what's usually on my desktop. I really do put on arty photos sometimes, but mostly it's what you see in the second desktop I posted.
I think I'm more perverted than Josh.

Even now I find myself staring dreamily at the desktop. *giggle*
I'm doing a lot of giggling today.

MiB - I don't know - you've got a perfectly legal picture of Colin Firth on your desktop, and you say you're more perverted than Mr-Nekkid-Lady Joshkr? Methinks thou dost protest too much...

Although they always say it's the quiet religious types that are great in the sack....

Not that I would know or anything....

MOATies I've met:

Josh
Kibby

MOATies I should have met by now, but have been exceedingly busy every frickin' day of this summer and highly lament not being able to get something together:

Lab and the Insolent Wench

MOATies I will be meeting this October/November:

Leetie
and whoever else can make it to and/or live in the DC area.

I am stupid busy today. Testing equipment that just came in and drinking way too much coffee.

Marie, did you send me some sort of a beer label picture? If so, I don't think I've had that before, but will look for it.

Mr. Fishair,
I thought of you last night while grilling out some FANTASTIC hamburgers and drinking a couple Guinness.

Brian B's hamburger recipe from last night:
1 lb. lean ground beef
about 4 ounces of chorizo sausage
3 cloves garlic
1 finely chopped green onion
about 2 tsp. worcestershire sauce
about 1 Tbsp Jack Daniels grilling sauce
1 egg
just enough breadcrumbs to tighten mixture
about 1 tsp. Mixed-up Pepper seasoning
salt and pepper to taste.

Grill and top with cheese of your choice (I used a mild Wisconsin cheddar)

Oh, and it is IMPERATIVE that you drink lots of beer while grilling, preferably something dark and creamy that doubles as the Nectar of the Gods, aka Guinness.

*hands Higgy a Xanax* What you need to do is drink less coffee.

Yes, Brian, that was from me. Ch'ti is a beer from the north of France (where my Giant Frog is from), and he quite likes it.

The desktop I have now isn't perverted because of its content; it's perverted because of where it makes my imagination go... *wink*

Ok - that is NOT my fault. Stupid software to prevent spammers caused it to crap out multiple times. Even kibbying in a new browser didn't show my posts until they all vomited up here.

*stomps off in a huff*

Susan- Yes, the road trip is still on, I just decided to delay it a few weeks until the heat drops off a bit. Camping isn't much fun when the heat index is over 100.

*is impressed by Higgy's multiple postgasms*

HIGGY!!!!

Six???? Are you having a problem? Is it something we should discuss????

BrianB - great recipe! And it would be a good meatloaf recipe too - if I still cooked *sigh*

Why don't you cook anymore, El? I didn't know you didn't.

Anyone having 6 is so not having a problem.

*envies everyones multiples*

Susan ~ Nena '99 Luftballoons' Any chance you have that one?

I'm off to see if I can scrounge for something resembling lunch in the kitchen. I'll be back to listen to Susan's show.

Wow, that song by Nena was a huge success when I was a teenager in Geneva... nostalgia....

Hamburgers: I bought something very original on Saturday, it's from Brazil and it's called Goiachup, that's ketchup made from Goyave (a tropical fruit, I can't find the name in English!)It's very natural and full of vitamins, iron etc... now I only have to buy buns and meat and try it...

Wolfie...I think I can find that...been wanting to play it for a while.

There's lots of things I'd like to play, just don't know if other people want to hear it...and I do need to keep in mind other requests, not just what I want to play...

MarieP's out to buy some buns.

And meat.

PIVO:30!

*zips in looking for her personal info which has been MIA*

test post....

Kibby...have one for me!

Gah. I've had a headache off and on all morning...now my neck and shoulders are hurting. On the plus side I have no meetings tonight.

*looks for a cabana boy to rub my shoulders*

post re personal info MIA is now MIA, but personal info is back...

(cue Twilight Zone music)

Marie P: Goyave - in English, Guava. Very popular with the Caribbean population down here in FL, they even sell guava cheesecake and pastries in the bakery at the local supermarkets.

drat.

*is back eating grapes - the sweet, dark kind*

Morning all! Sorry to be so late getting here today but I had stuff to do, including the laundry. Anyway, did I say I met 11 MOATies last night? Well, that's true to date but 10 days from now it will change in Chicago.

12. Polly PI!

Yes, she will be at the Chicago Bouchercon (World Mystery Convention) (starting September 1) in all her glory. Can't wait, Polly!

I think Leetie & Blogchik covered most of the details of the dinner and it's pretty LTTG to go back to it here. I'll just add a few things.

We had a nice big round table in a corner of the second floor away from everything, so talking and hearing were not a problem.

The waiter, while not totally efficient at bringing refills, was incredibly theatrical in his "presentation" of the high points of the menu.

Boo's drink was too odd and I was glad he sent it back. Whoever described it had it right - it looked like shredded spinach floating up & down the glass and there was a huge, but weird looking, thing sticking out of it that the waiter claimed was a "sugar stick".

Food was very good. We got to hear about Mad's green mice and Ted Habter-Naked's icky hitting on Elle. What a creep!

At the end Leetie was trying to get directions to a local place just so we could take a picture in front of the sign: Ramparts. Maybe next time.

Nice start to the Request Hour, Susan!!!

I would light a lighter if I smoked, Susan. I love "A Day in the Life".
RIP John Lennon.

This is the first time I've been able to listen to Susan's show. I like her voice, though I thought it would sound more Southern, perhaps.

*dances across Moat and attempts to sing in German*

Woohooo

I had never heard "99 Luftballons" before, Wolfie. Now I have the sound on full blast. Wahey!

Marie, to my sister I sound all too southern.

To people around here, despite my many many years living here, I still sound northern. (I moved here at 9 years old.)

Moaties I need a favor please.
A mutual friend of all of ours needs some serious good vibes and happy thoughts. She has just started down a life altering path and is nervous and worried and scared.
Please send her whatever kind thoughts you think of to help her on this journey. Happy thoughts/prayers from the deity of your choice would greatly be appreciated.

((((good vibes for the mutual friend))))

Ooooh I like this song. What is it?

{{{happy thoughts, prayers and good vibes for someone who needs them}}}

I wonder if they show up the same when I post this...

MiB, Time In A Bottle by Jim Croce

I've been trying to post this for about 5 mins but it won't go through.

Anyway if that's the song you're talking about, he died tragically in the late 70's

Steven, you may be right. I was going by the time of MiB's post with what I had on the air...but the clock I was looking at isn't quite with the blog clock.

And the quotation marks look the same after I post.

Oh well.

Off to lunch while this computer runs a virus scan.

Ummm... Jim Croce was a woman? There was a woman's voice, not a man's.

Yeah!!! It's Multi-Post Monday!!!

Yeah!!! It's Multi-Post Monday!!!

Susan - you know you can reschedule the time that the virus scanners turn on, right?

I have mine going off at 7pm Monday night - that's when I KNOW it's time to quit work for the day.

Wolfie - will be sending prayers from the Flying Spaghetti Monster for your friend.

Glad I'm not the only one with multiple-itis today.

*takes a bow*

(or maybe 2, we'll see)

Kaf? Great DB phone call story!

Thanks Punky for the eloquence of "Must hydrate."

Neo, I laughed at your comment on "life is a highway" since the song was running through my mind when I read you. However, I worry at you "throwing up," and hope it is simply a bug.

Thanks Zoodle.

Still no Bangi? has anyone thrown the Tarzan rope, so she could swing in if she was inclined?

My desktop is currently a Dream Theater "Octavarium" wallpaper. Currently I am exploring "Lowe Motor Corporation" and "The Gathering."

DJT, loved the monitor disaster story.

[Uncrosses fingers. Reads Wolfie's post. Recrosses fingers and hopes beneficiary is someone else. Checks e-mail just in case.]

[closing tags like a good boy]
oh, and for the record, the WMD tag only works for a certain number of characters. About as many as I managed in this post.

Deon - that hurt my eyes, dude!

Deon, that color is so last season!

Isn't grey the new black?

Deon, I warned you about the grey.

Wolfie, I recommend our friend wield a large baseball bat. Unless I'm thinking of the wrong person, but, then again, I'm never wrong.
