The Police may be giving their Cuban fans a free show this Christmas.
The super rock group, which recently reunited for a sell-out world tour, has received an invitation from the Cuban government to perform there in December.

I have tickets for The Police and I have no intention of giving them up. The last time they came to Miami was 1985. I was a sophomore in high school and couldn't go. I couldn't care less if they played Cuba.

You've got to work on your verticality (don't think about anything just feel it). Don't you realize that the Pavlovian response is that it doesn't matter if the suffering people in Cuba have a ray of sunshine and fun, if it in any way it benefits "El Verdugo" we can't have it. Plus we can't let you enjoy the concert here because sometimes you have to fight fire with fire i.e. we'll be a little bit like them. Like that 20th century philosopher and new wave artist said it best in his seminal work ARMED FORCES "Two Little Hitlers" capice! Todos tenomos un Fidelito por dentro...author unknown!

athought, oye chica..i guess the demoral and weed part went over your head..if so,it means that you have not been tainted by the drugs of our generation..good for you. It was just "tongue in cheek". But,if it was Celia that was playing Cuba, would you hold it against her?..Esteban,please, no more drug induced remarks..youre confusing the tennants.

Celia never returned to Cuba and, from what I've heard, that broke her heart. I listen to plenty of artists (the Pretenders, for example) with whose political stances I don't particularly agree. Music is to transcend barriers, not set them. When Bono and the other artists released "Sun City" about refusing to play South Africa due to apartheid, I thought it was both a good song and the right thing to say. However, I also believe that music holds the power to bring about change. If The Police want to play Cuba, go ahead. Maybe music will succeed where years of politicians and lip service have failed.

Celia, now that shes passed, was invited by Cuba to sing. As a matter of FACT she was invited 2 times..It was a shame that her decision not to attend was "made" by Miami. She would have been black listed by all radio stations...
