Exiles have misjudged Cuba for the last 40 years, because they have relied exclusively upon the cia.

Also, because you Cuban Chicanos are boycotting America Monday. I will be boycotting Chicanos right back. I will not speak to one Cuban Chicano on the beach. Nor will i be posting here Monday.

Sincerely,
John

Im sitting here butt ass naked, wearing a cowboy hat, with my class ring, eating a bowl of cheeorios, watching Scarface on Ch 43. I am in near tears as i watch all the illegal Cuban Chicanos getting off the boats in Miami Beach, in "my" neighborhood. The very same Cuban Chicanos who are currently calling me bigots, idiots, insignificant pricks, even an insetual baby, and many other names in Spanish. Where did my nation go so wrong! Where did the Coast Guard go so wrong! Where were the "real" Americans to keep those Chicanos under those bridges! I dont know if i will be able to watch these Cubans Chicanos strutting around my television tonight for three hours, too upsetting!

Sincerely,
John

Dear brother and sister in Christ:

After the success of our recent book Cuba, I Remember You/Cuba, te recuerdo (Airleaf Publishing, February 2006), we are currently busy preparing a new and exciting book on Cubans and their Catholic spirituality. We hope to bring the book to print in time for Easter next year. But to do that, we need your help!

One key part of our book will be expressed in the form of stories of faith submitted by Cubans and Cuban-Americans sharing with our readers which aspects of our Catholic faith have been the most meaningful and helpful to them, more specifically how their Catholic faith has been a source of consolation and comfort to them during difficult times in their lives.

The book will attempt to answer the question, “What is there in Catholicism that has so much to offer to the modern Cuban man or woman and those who will find themselves in a Free Cuba in the hopeful near future?” All stories of faith will be treated with absolute confidentiality and will appear anonymously in the book, as we respect privacy above all. If you decide that you would like to participate in the creation of a book that will help others explore what our Catholic faith has to offer, please email us at the email address below and we will send the questionnaire, also state english or spanish versions or both.

When you receive your questionnaire feel free to write as much as you like, as we will not put boundaries around your story of faith. If there is some aspect of the questionnaire that you do not understand, please contact us and we will attempt to provide you with clarification right away. Please do not submit your name with your response. We truly thank you for considering assisting us in the research we are currently conducting and we hope you agree that faith does indeed grow in community, as we share stories about each other’s spiritual journeys.

You may respond in English or Spanish, as the book will be published bilingually and each story will appear in both languages.

We will provide the translation into the other language.

Please email us and we will send the questionnaire, also state english or spanish version or both: Consuelo_de_Cuba@comcast.net

We thank you for your time and for sharing. We ask God to grant every blessing to you and yours. And if you know others who might be interested in participating, please forward this invitation to them as well! The only requirements are that they be Cuban or Cuban-American and practicing Catholics.

In Christ,

OSCAR M. RAMÍREZ-ORBEA, Ph.D.
