45 years later, these Cuban exiles don't want the younger generations to forget that they invaded Cuba in 1961 in an attempt to take back Cuba from Fidel Castro. They were mostly in their teens and 20s back then. Of the 1,500 exiles who invaded, outnumbered and outgunned against a 70,000-plus strong Castro army, about 100 were killed and 1,300 were captured. They were released in an amnesty later.
For all you readers out there in your teens, 20s and 30s: would you take up arms today to liberate your homeland -- wherever that may be -- if a revolutionary claiming to be a democrat turned instead into a communist dictator?

absolutely. whether it be here in the US or for the liberation of Cuba. I admire and salute the brave men of the Brigada 1506, your mission will never be forgotten and will soon be completed.

Then why arent you in the military fighting in iraq? This Cubans attitude mirrors most others which i have discovered in Miami. Put down the signs and pick up a rifle and go free you homeland from one of the worst dictators the world has ever seen. Every time i look around some Cuban is holding up a sign, or going on a hunger strike. Mighty brave of you Cubans, mighty brave indeed.

Look "John" did you know that it's illegal to plan an armed overthrow of Fidel Castro in the United States? Did you know that many have been arrested for that Crime. That the resolution of the missile crisis left the US as Castro's Protector in Chief?
"John" kiss my Cuban-American ass.

John, I've been reading your feeble attempts at trying to sound knowledgeable, you criticize us for hating everything, when it seems that the only one who has any hate is you, perhaps one of those “Chicano” Cubans built a two story house that now shadows your trailer, who knows what your problem is!
By the way, as you posted somewhere else, we are not insulted by the term “Chicano” however, just because we speak the same language, it doesn’t make us more “Chicano” than you an “Aussie” just because you speak the same language.
So, put the wheels back on that 84 Camaro remove the appliances from the front of the trailer, don’t overdose on Prozac and try to get an education.

I would absolutely take up arms to free my country, the U.S.
John- It doesn't look like you've done anything to take back Miami from the Cubans and other hispanics who roam the streets of Miami "illegally". In fact, you let them shape U.S. politics, protest in the streets, and even steal your girlfriend. Where are YOUR cojones?

Hey you guys first of all is Assault Brigade 2506 so get that right and then we can all together, let John know that we, Cuban-Americans are very proud of the fact that we have to countries, Cuba by birth and the United States by choice. Also, let him know that Cubans fought in Vietnam, are now fighting in Irak and Afganistan while he is here in the Sunshine State sunning himself and talking shit. We made this city what it is today, the Gateways to the Americas. I suggest if he doesn't like to live among hispanics he should move to West Virginia and let us enjoy our culture, mexican, nicaraguan, colombian, venezuelan, and cuban to name a few, after all, we all speak the same languange.

How many times do i tell you Chicano's that you did not build up Miami. It is the 4th pooriest city in the nation. And, the most corrupt, mostly b/c of Cubans. Southbeach is where people come to, and that was build up by Jews, not Cubans. Also, Southbeach where "real" Americans resides is only affordable to the rich. Becuase most Chicano's are poor, they cannot afford to live the luxury of Southbeach. Might i suggest that if you Chicano's stayed in Little Havana, Hialeah, an Hialeah Gardens you would not be missed on Southbeach. Every city naturally grows by time, much like home appreciation. So please stop pounding yourself on the chest. Finally, you need to learn better grammar please.
Sincerely,
John

I would definately take up arms to fight for my country. Those were exceptionally brave men that attempted to fight for Cuba's freedom but failed when promised back up did not arrive. I commemorate and thank so those men for the attempt to liberate Cuba. As for John, I had said I would no longer waste my time on you because you are obviously mentally handicapped and I truly feel kind of bad for you, but I just had to remind you of the countless times on previous posts where you have been corrected for grammar mistakes so please refrain from correcting others. You even admitted to your faulty grammar. After all, i'm sure most of the people who post comments hold jobs and cannot waste time correcting there comments before posting. Now you John obviously have countless hours a day to waste on commenting non sense. Anyway, I said I would not answer to your foolishness so I won't make comment about anything else you said.
Have a wonderful evening.

Oh poor John! He is either blind or stupid. In 1960 when the Cubans began to aarive in Miami this town was a place for retirees from states up north. South Beach had a funny smell, like the one people get before dying? At 9 o'clock it was a Ghost town. The Miami that we are sharing with an idiot like you is a Miami full of Salsa, Cumbia, Merengue, Samba. I respectfully suggest to you that if you don't like it you should move to Tennessee. Oh my gush, I forgot, there are Cubans also in Tennessee so maybe you should go overseas like Irak and do something good for your country like a lot of Cubans and Hispanics are doing right now and the Cubans did at the Bay of Pigs. But I dont think you have what it takes to fight for your country and freedom. Are you a text tube baby?
